Darren Bent has finally joined Sunderland and Harry Redknapp will be rubbing his hands in glee and sorting out his brown paper bags, as he plans how to spend the money.

The fee is apparently £10m upfront, which could rise to £16.5 if Bent makes enough appearances. So Daniel Levy got his way… kind of.

I wish Bent all the luck in the world. He was a somewhat baffling signing, considering that despite the then record fee, he was still only our fourth choice striker. What’s more, his strengths didn’t really fit in with our style of play.

Bent may well flourish at Sunderland, where Kenwyne Jones looks like a much more natural partner, than anyone that he was ever paired with at Spurs.

All the best Darren. Keep scoring the goals and try to stay off Twitter.
