On This Day In Spurs History: 14th May

1981 – On this day in 1981 Spurs beat Manchester City 3-2 in the FA Cup final replay at Wembley. Ricky Villa gave us the lead, only for Steve MacKenzie to equalise within three minutes. City went 2-1 up through a Kevin Reeves penalty, before Garth Crooks pulled it back to 2-2.

Six minutes later, Ricky Villa scored his second and what is generally thought of as the greatest ever goal scored in an FA Cup final. Spurs had won the cup for the first time since 1967.

I pick my World Cup Rejects XI over at betting.betfair. Hopefully it will prove as popular as my All-Time Spurs World Cup XI on this very site.

Over at Dirty Tackle, Robinho gets involved in the campest dance routine since Ben Mitchell dressed up as Lady Gaga.

  1. Most Spurs fans, like myself do not want to see Carrick back at WHL.
We do not want or like traitors as Sol Campbell and Berbatov know.

  2. next season we need to have a squad that can play in 4 different league and cup comps…we need to have back up in all areas of the pitch…as of yet sandro is untested and will take time to bed in…. nothing wrong with carrick back for me …he was and is a harry type of player and would add extra quality in areas we need….jenas is going so you need to replace him in the squad so again carrick yes please….Would also like to see a strong box to box type player as we lack a 15 goal a season midfield player…need back up on right as bentley for me has done little to say he is a 18mil pound player his final ball is shocking……….need a new striker a new 2nd keeper and i think with a touch of youth and some old heads our squad will bring home at least a trophy next season along with progression of a top4 club………….
