1969 – On this day in 1969, Spurs bounced back from an opening day defeat against Leeds, with a 4-0 win over Burnley. Peter Collins, Jimmy Pearce, Jimmy Greaves and Martin Chivers scored the goals for Tottenham.

1984 – Today is the 26th birthday of Niko Kranjcar. Having signed for Spurs on transfer deadline day last season for a bargain £2.5m, Kranjcar has so far played 32 games for Tottenham and has scored 8 goals.

    Wenger this year, rather than play down the chances of Utd and Chelsea, decided to play up the chances of the lesser sides, ignoring the top two’s supremacy of recent years.
