    1970 – On this day in 1970, Oyvind Leonhardsen was born. Signed from Liverpool in 1999, Leonhardsen played 72 games for the club and scored 11 goals.

    1996 – On this day in 1996, Spurs won their opening game of the season away at Blackburn 2-0. Chris Armstrong scored both the goals, but the game was marred by an injury to Gary Mabbutt, who broke his leg, ruling him out of action for the whole season.
