In the absence of any confirmed transfer news, speculation continues to dominate the tabloids and online rumour mills.
One of the names to be linked with a move to Spurs this month is Mark Van Bommel who was apparently been told by Bayern Munich that he can leave the club. The player is out of contract this summer and at 34, Bayern could be looking to cash in now for a fee in the region of £3m.
It has been recently claimed that the Dutchman would be joining AC Milan this January, but his agent has subsequently denied that a deal has yet been struck.
Van Bommel scored at White Hart Lane when the club staged England’s game against Holland at 2001 and he continues to play for his country (which of course has nothing to do with the fact that his father-in-law manages the side).
He will probably be best known over here for his somewhat cynical performances in the World Cup; a tournament in which he was seemingly untouchable to referees. On those displays, anyone in the Premier League picking him up, could be resigned to a series of suspensions and can forget any thoughts of winning the fair play league.
His record is good however and with 80 goals in his career, he weighs in with his fair share of strikes. It will certainly be interesting to see where he does end up this month (if anywhere). Would you want him at Spurs?
Many people dislike this guy, but he is class and just what we need next to Modric. In recent years Tottenham have had to many “nice” players, to go all the way we need someone with winning mentality who is willing to do what it takes. Although this is probably just paper talk I would like us to sign him up.

I really hope that there is no truth in this, as the last thing Spurs need is some hacker who is past his sell by date. The amount of fouls this guy gives away is ridiculous making always liable for a red card. Also at his age I doubt if he could live with the pace of the PL.
What is the point in mentioning that he has 80 goals in his career? He is 34. I expect that 80% of those occurred before his 28th birthday. He is clearly not known for that now. At 34, I’d rather buy Phil Neville, and that is saying something.
Judging by his performances in thr World Cup, Spurs fans would not like him at all, and he would collect many yellow or red cards very quickly indeed.
