Two Spurs legends have spoken about Sunday’s clash against Manchester United and shared their beliefs that Spurs can win the game on go on from strength to strength this season.
Pat Jennings, who took part in many great tussles against United over the years, is well remembered for his unlikely goal against them in the 1967 Charity Shield.
Pat is quoted in the Belfast Telegraph as saying: “Tottenham have been playing superbly this season, especially at home. They have made great strides under Harry in the Premier League and the Champions League.”
Jennings acknowledges that Spurs’ recent record against United is poor but believes it’s time for change: “The worst one for Tottenham was when we led United 3-0 at half-time, but then they scored early in the second half and went on to win 5-3. That was hard to take for the fans, but I think this is a different team with real self belief.”
Elsewhere, 1984 UEFA Cup winning captain Graham Roberts had his say on Talksport, declaring that Spurs have nothing to fear.
“United always seem to turn it on at White Hart Lane,” Roberts said, “but I don’t think Tottenham will be frightened of them. Harry Redknapp will have them keyed up for this one and the crowd will be up for it. I believe Tottenham will beat Man United this weekend.”
Many Spurs fans will share their views and with similar ‘dismal’ records against Arsenal and Chelsea recently put to bed, there can be no better time to take 3 points off the leaders on Sunday.
