Is Paul Robinson’s second coming the answer?

by Matthew Harris on January 25, 2011

What started as an unlikely transfer rumour has gained momentum overnight with a story linking Spurs with former goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

Robbo left White Hart Lane in 2008 after four seasons with the club, but it seems Harry Redknapp has never been completely happy with his keeping options at Spurs. Cuducini is out of contract at the end of the season and Gomes continues to be erratic at best, so could a move for a new goalkeeper be on the cards sooner rather than later?

Robinson is 31 now and many consider that this is the age that a goalkeeper moves into his prime. Maybe he could also take some of the goal scoring pressure off Bale and VDV!

Blackburn are unlikely to want to sell and it’s suggested that the player is happy and settled where he is, so a deal looks a long way off. However does this mean that a new keeper will be arriving soon and is Paul Robinson the answer?

Yes please . . . we love Gomes but he’s becoming more erratic again. Robbo’s got his mojo back and could do a great job for us. Do it Harry!

Robbo is a yiddo..Still throws his gloves into the Park Lane end every time he plays at the Lane..Still has banter with the fans, still gets a standing ovation from the faithful…Why not..Love Gomes but he has a touch of the Ian Walker’s every now and again BUT last season against the Arse at home he was immense and can be but not enough times…Mistake against Chelsea which cost us all 3 points…Tough one indeed…

I agree a younger keeper who can push Gomes would be preferable, Sergio Asenjo, David de Gea!

Pompous gits! What on earth makes you think he’d go back to the club that treated him so shabbily in the first place?
Robbo knows which club has shown him the respect he has always deserved, and it isn’t in North London, you two-faced plonkers.

I think Robinson was Comolli’s sacrificial lamb = when the cancer man was due for the chop . Pat Jennings suffered the same injustice under Pleat .

Robbo is always signin stuff in the spurs car park after the game when we play em = a true legend , and he always waves to us when we sing “your spurs and you know you are”

I would welcome him back as a number 2
or even 1 = competition for places is good !!
