If you believe everything you read then Gareth Bale is most likely to start on the bench for tonight’s return leg with AC Milan.

After his cameo appearance at Molineux on Sunday, manager Harry Redknapp had this to say: “Gareth trained this morning, he still felt a little bit stiff. His back was okay but he felt a little stiff in his legs so we will wait until tomorrow to see how he is.

“It’s touch and go. At the moment it would be doubtful whether he would be fit to start.”

Harry had better news though on Rafael van der Vaart: “Rafa’s okay. He trained this morning and yesterday, and worked particularly hard yesterday. He came through with no problems and he’s available.”

The surprising news though is on Vedran Corluka. He was expected to be out for a while longer but according to Redknapp is back in contention.

“Charlie is fit. He’s fine. He’s worked hard in training for the last week or two and he’s available. I’ve now got to make a decision between him and Alan Hutton. We’ll look at that one tomorrow.

So the only decision for the back four seems to be with Corluka or Calamity Hutton. The remaining back three look to pick themselves.

With VDV fit, it could well mean a return to 4-5-1 with Crouch as a lone striker up front. Behind him, will it be Sandro or Palacios and will Bale make the starting XI or stay on the bench as Harry suggests? We think that Harry might be bluffing. Here’s our team to face AC Milan, what’s yours?
