Some good news on the injury front seems to have finally arrived, with reports that Tom Huddlestone has a target date for a return to first team action.

There has been little news on Tom since he picked up the ankle injury that has kept him out for over four months, but The Evening Standard indicates that he has set our early April Champions League quarter-finals as his goal.

Spurs have maintained their push for Champions League football in Tom’s absence and have progressed in this year’s tournament, but have clearly missed his creative play. The news will be a big boost to Harry Redknapp with a hectic fixture list in April that will decide our season.

Tom’s return is good new,s but is he one of the few players at the Lane who should walk straight back into the team, or will Sandro keep him out of the team?

  1. I think if were playing at home then HR will go with Hudd when he is back.

Sandro perhaps more so for away games. You also never know who else might be out at that point so.

Will be great to have him back for sure as he has been missed.

  2. For me yes alongside Sandro with Bale at LB and modders moving to LM and Van the man and another upfront and Lennon on the right looks good to me.Anyone else like the sound of this.

      • Agreed. Bale is arguably our biggest goal threat so makes no sense to put him in defence. Our defence needs to be structured as it is rather inconsistent.

Also Hudd has to start, have ppl already forgot how influencial he is? He was our ‘go to’ man off the bench against Young Boys which is rare for a holding midfielder.

I think Sandro should only play in a fully fit team in tough away games, as good as he looks there are few players tht could push Modders n Hudd out.

  3. Before we get carried away with Sandro, lets just remember that he has played merely in 15 games in England. Hudd has played almost 120 for Spurs alone. Sandro has put in a couple of great performances lately, but Hudd played in almost every game last season, and therefore needs to be tried back in the team. Let’s not forget that Lennon & Bale receive the ball in better areas from Hudd than from anyone else. We have been missing this. Obviously we cannot play ’em all, but I’d expect Hudd to come back in for most games – if fit

  4. THudd straight back in the team. Everyone’s going over-board about Sandro. Remeber, HR own plays him as a last resort. Palacios would have played v Milan if fit. Sandro looked good at breaking up play but we need Thud to control games. Also Sandro made a terrible error in the 2nd half when he gifted the ball to Milan who nearly scored. Conveniently forgotten in the hyperbole. I think we’ve missed Thud’s control of games all season, cant wait to see him back

  5. When he comes back I’d play the following system:
    Gomes
    Corluka Gallas Dawson Bale
    Sandro
    Hudd Modric
    Lennon Pienar
    Defoe

  6. Gomes
    Corluka dawson gallas
    Sandro hudd
    Lennon modric bale
    Vdv
    Crouch or defoe

Best use of talent considering how dinged up they are defensively

  7. Gomes

    Corluka Dawson Gallas Bale

    Lennon Sandro Hudd Modric

    Defoe VDV

    BEST XI in my view

Bale can still get forward from here and Modric will be able to find him plenty
