While stories continued to circulate over the weekend with regard to Gareth Bale and Luka Modric, they have been countered by claims elsewhere that state Spurs will not be selling either. Yesterday, rumours increased over a possible £40m bid from Chelsea for Bale – a fee which would have been backed up by wages of around £150,000 a week.

In other parts of the media, there have been stories linking Luka Modric with a potential move to Italy or Spain but they too have been denied.

With regard to Modric, his agent Nikki Arthur Vuksan is quoted as saying: “Luka has a contract until 2016 which he recently signed. He intends to see out that contract and does not want to leave Spurs.

“If someone comes in for him one day and Spurs decide to accept the offer then that is up to them, but Luka is very happy at Spurs. The season is going great for him there and hopefully he will be playing in the Champions League again next season.”

There has been no such ‘official’ word on Bale, but the London Evening Standard believes the club will resist offers for him, no matter what the figure reaches.
