One of the men who helped West Brom to a 2-2 draw at the weekend is the latest in a long line of strikers to be linked with a move to White Hart Lane. Peter Odemwingie may well have been seeking a move away from the Hawthorns had Roy Hodgson’s men been relegated but as safety beckons, he could stay put.

The player had this to say: “My intention is to continue playing in England and if West Brom is not relegated I’m only too happy to stay. It’s likely they will offer me a new contract in the summer”.

There appears therefore to be no real substance to the headlines that link the player to Spurs, but meanwhile the chase for Romelu Lukaku could well be decided shortly. Spurs are still rumoured to be interested but if they lose out on his signature then they could look to another Belgian striker in Bjorn Vleminckx. At just 22, Vleminckx has impressed in Holland this season and is averaging over a goal every other game. His club NEC Nijmegen are rumoured to be prepared to part with the player for just £6m.

This may well be more in Tottenham’s price bracket and it’s interesting if nothing else, to see transfer fees coming down all the time for strikers linked with a summer move to Spurs.

  1. Why is this a matter of concern NOW?

We have this season to play for. We need results in our remaining fixtures. I could care less about who the club is or isn’t attached to. I highly doubt anyone else is either.

  2. Whoopsie, Vleminckx is 25 and signed a 5 year contract with Club Brugge last month. It was also for €3.3m so could have missed out on a bargain there.

    • Also he has far too few vowels in his name for me… Good scrabble score though. Imagine Paul Merson trying to pronounce that one on Soccer Saturday!

  3. Why did you click on the link if transfer rumours are no concern to you? Surely the title is pretty clear indication of the subject matter.

  4. Boys, boys stop all the nonesense and focus on my needs, if you know what I mean. Stop the transfer speculation as we know we are going to be linked with every striker from now until end of the Sept transfer window. We will get who we get and sell who we sell, so until then how would you like me on loan for the rest of the season, I’ll show you how to slide it in from outside the box, even in slippery conditions, Well I’m waiting boys, don’t be shy. HHXX

  5. amauri, j cole, odemwinge, lukaku, falcao, hulk, cahill, berbatov, klose, drogba, marin, parker, wickham…its not even May. Kill me.

  6. what ever happens we need to get the business done early this transfer window ,none of this bollocks of waiting to the last minute of the window ,like we have been doing for the last couple windows in the hope of getting a bargain and failing to do so leaving us with a load of shit up front ,get them in nice and early and fully prepared for the start of next season ,no rushed last minute wheeling and dealing harry boy

  7. Wow Horny Helen! Came on here looking at football related comments and now my train of thought is somewhere else completely, Thanks for that ;-p xx

  8. I think nearly every striker in the world has been linked with us in the last few weeks! Romelu Lukaku would be good, along with Falcao, we just really need to freshen that part of the team up badly, should have done it last summer. Come on Levy, let Harry move us forward!
