While Tottenham’s midfield may seem overcrowded, this is the one area where we should see a lot of players moving through the White Hart Lane exit door this summer. Niko Kranjcar, David Bentley, Wilson Palacios and Jamie O’Hara could all be on their way at the end of the season.

The priority in midfield is clear and we need to hold on to the likes of Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and now Sandro, who has also been linked with moves – the latest to AC Milan with Vedran Corluka’s assailant Flamini coming the other way.

The unexpected rise of Sandro has led people to suggest that Harry won’t go back in for Charlie Adam and he won’t pursue any interest in Scott Parker, but with several players on their way, should he look for at least one extra player in midfield.

Adam and Parker are two strong candidates while Mark van Bommel is continually linked with a move. Should we be looking for a defensive midfielder and someone a little more creative as well? Just who, if anyone, should Harry go after for a Spurs midfield slot in 2011-12?

  1. Obvious. Jamie O’Hara. Why splash the cash when we do not need to. Please add jenas to your list of those to go.

  2. I think the Midfield is pretty sorted. I’d rather O’Hara stayed as a squad player over Jenas, but Jenas seems happy as back up, where as O’Hara wants 1st team starts. Parker is good, but only if we let a few go and I doubt he would be starting for us, so it would have to be at a decent price. Maybe something different to Lennon on the right would be nice if Bentley is off, but I love Lennon and think we messed up by trying to improve on him previously by signing Bentley. When Lennon’s not in the team, we miss a big threat down the right, so unless it’s a big upgrade, we should be fine covering the right with what we have. Sandro, Hudd, Modd for the CM are starting to really dominate games, with VdV dropping in the whole, although he shouldnt keep dropping so deep he’s next to our CBs! Wish Lennon / Modric would chip in with a few goals too, as this would take the pressure off the CFs, but Bale / VdV do that, Mod makes us tick and Lennon is always such a threat on the outside.

  3. Parker is the kind of player we absolutely need.
He is an experienced box to box midfielder who has an excellent shooting capacity, a strong personality, a fighting spirit and above all a winner’s character.
Crucial skills and qualities that Spurs are currently missing.
Together with Sandro and Modric he will form the best midfield trio of the PL and that will boosts the chances of Spurs challenging a top four place next year.

  4. I would like Marin instead of Lennon who should be used off the bench alot more as he isnt consisten enough for 90mins and doesnt score goals, something Marin does.

Sell, OHara, Bents, Krancjar, Gio, Jenas….keep Palacios for BackUp

  5. Sell O’hara. Bentley, Unfortunately Kranjcar and Gio.
Jenas as Palacios are good squad players.
Buy Edin Hazard to add flair and tricks to our starry midfield.
There is no point of buying Parker unless one of Jenas or Palacios leave.
Besides Marin doesn’t want to leave Werder Bremen and Lennon is better than him.

    COYS!

  6. would only like to see experiance added to midfield, Van bommel , seedorf both on free tick everything we need.

  7. Lets start from the back -ekotto is a liability at the back we should have bought Taiwo or Maxwell from Barca- Next replace Palacios with Van Bommel who will compliment VDV. Then we need subs that can come on for bale and lennon like Elias or Philipe Coutinho or even hamsik or hazard- Next we need a class forward like Damaio or Fernando llorente- Osvaldo from Espanyol is not the answer- Theres also Gyan, Sturridge or Eto thats if Inter land there man….
