There are many ‘forgotten men’ in the ranks at White Hart Lane and when you compile a list of players who could be up for transfer, it’s easy to omit some of our fringe squad.
Giovani dos Santos fits into that category perfectly but his performance for Mexico against New Zealand may have put him firmly in the shop window once again. Gio scored twice inside the first 30 minutes on Wednesday night and in the absence of Javier Hernandez, was the stand out player in the South American side.
A brilliant performance has been lauded by the US press – the game having been played over there – and this highlights what a frustrating player he can be at times.
Dos Santos himself has said that he has enjoyed his time in Spain and would like to stay at Racing Santander if possible and while the Spanish club have been a little silent, Gio’s international goals may have reminded them to get out the cheque book.
Hes wasting his talent and time at spurs. It has not worked out for him here in England. He needs to move on.+, we could get a few bob from selling him.
With respect New Zealand are not the best team in the World. In order to prove himself Dos Santos has to replicate this against the likes of ManU, Chelski and the gooners. The question is can he do it?
How has he frusrated? He’s barely had a couple of games in a row to settle. The Kid had a Blinding World cup and Performs for his national team regularly. We have just got too many similar options. But why Pinnaar all the time when Gio has always been worth a go, especially in games where defensive issues are not as pressing?
Because Gio will keep poppin into the nearest bar for a drink. He has been a flop in Spain to. Until his attitude changes he won’t become the player he should be with his skill.
Are you trying to tell me that Gio can get served for alcohol in a bar? He looks like a 14 year old girl.
A flop in Spain? 5 goals in 16 matches for a below average team as a winger is pretty impressive. Selling Gio will come back to haunt us in the years to come.

He has been largely anonymous the few times I’ve seen him play for Spurs and of course Arry doesn’t like his social life.
But it is odd he can’t do it for Spurs. He’s put a few in for Racing as well.
He hasn’t had a chance I can barely remember him playing more than a few games. Sandro had a nighmare away at Bolton but had the opportunity-through Thuds injury-to show us what he’s about. Gio could be an asset is all.
20 apps in what,3/4 years? plus got injured at the crucial time where he could have started to settle in. People still call him a flop and frustrating???
We call him a flop because he is a flop. He only ever turns it on for Mexico. He is more interested in spending his wage packet than earning it. If he behaved a little more professionally like Henandez at United he would have had a lot more games.
He aint had much of a chance to earn it, thats all. Georgey Best was pissed all the time, it could work.
And he’s by all accounts been exellent for racing in spain on loan.
I just want to put one myth to bed – Gio did NOT have a “blinding world cup”. He had a World Cup where he looked pretty good in flashes. But, despite playing every game scored no goals, made no assists and I can barely remember a shot on target.
Somehow this myth that he had an excellent World Cup was created and is now often repeated but, having watched every Mexico game, I just didn’t see it.
ok blinding maybe an overstament with a view do defending the lad, but i too watched all the Mexico games and he always looked a threat, and i can remember him hitting the target a few times also.
Gio has never had a fair go in the Spurs team, the only time we ever blood our younger players is when the only other option is for Arry to get his own boots out. And I think being runner up for Young Player of the Tournament in the WC to an outstanding Thomas Muller is an achievement.
Right fucking on. Why do certain factions dismiss youngsters as “flops” without them having any consistent chance. At this point i’m going apply for the vacancy as dos santos legal representetive…..
He needs to get his chance before he is labeled a flop. Remember, people were calling Sandro a flop just a couple months ago
