It seems that transfer rumour is starting to veer slightly towards actual news as reports are coming out that Spurs have had a £10.5m bid for the Brazilian Leandro Damiao turned down. However, the suggestion is that his club are prepared to sell, so a little more cash could yet see Leandro reporting for duty as a Tottenham player next season.
Last week we looked at Leandro and he certainly seems an exciting prospect. His compatriot Sandro spoke of him in glowing terms to Spurs’ officials and that may have persuaded them to make a move.
This is what Internacional’s President, Giovanni Luigi said to the media: “It’s the first offer that we have received and we have refused it.
“I said I didn’t want to sell now. I warned that he’ll only leave at the end of the year and for more money.
“Tottenham has offered €12million for Damiao, but we think that it’s not enough for a player that is 21 years old and that has an excellent future.”
His club are reported to want £17m and while he does look a great player for the future, could that be just a little too much for a 21 year old with one full season and one international cap behind him?
Let’s meet them in the middle and call it a day. We need to get a striker on board ASAP and then move onto the next one. I think Leandro and Berba would be a reasonable and good pair of pick ups. That way we have a young big striker with alot of upside along with a proven EPL level goal poacher with at least a few more good years left in him. Surely I would love to get Falcao or one of the other young studs but I think the 2 I listed above are certainly talented enough and in the realm of possibility. These 2 along with Pav would make for a better strike force than the current one we trot out.
We are never going to getting Berbatov without sacrificing Modlle or Bale. Stay away from Manure Levy!
Sometimes you just have to gamble – a risk yes, but so were Modric and Berbatov. Keep our relationship with Internacional going strong it could be the start of something great, pay what they want for the kid and give him a go. If it doesn’t work out then so be it.
We paid big bucks for proven Premiership players – Bentley and Keane (2nd time) and it didn’t work out. Regardless of experience, some transfers work out and some don’t and apart from watching the boy play, what else can we do.
Also don’t be misled by international cap statistics for Brazil – some terrible players have racked up the caps for them – remember our friend Gilberto well he has 35 caps.
If our scouts believe he is good enough – which they clearly do, to have bid 10 million, then at 21 years old we will pay what we need to in order to get him.

Pay the man! I really Leandro and the I think he is well worth the 17 million. We got Friedel for free. That should be good enough in goal. We should be able to use the money saved from there to buy two strikers, a solid CB and then maybe a midfielder to replace the deadwood of Jenas, Palacios and whoever else we ship out of our midfield.
Get Leandro, add Hulk, Falcao, Gervinho, Drogba or Berbatov (tied for the league lead in goals, he doesn’t suck), sell Crouch and Defoe. COYS!
He is a top player I had a look at him last week when @footballrascal posted about him on twitter. Looks like we could get a steal here, especially as barcelona were interested.
This lad will be just as great a star as SANDRO. Every weekend i watch Brazilian football.Befor Sandro arrived at the lane i said we had a great player(just could not understand why it took him so long to make the first team)Leandro is a great player and i have no doubt he will be worth every cent paid for him. Best of all he is young and if we keep all our great young talent it is just a matter of time befor we see the new Barcelona.
