With Harry pledging to show Luka Modric the club’s ambition, there are reports that Spurs will now move quickly in the transfer market and after the decision was finally made on the future of Johnathan Woodgate, the need for a new centre back must now be a priority.
With that in mind, Bolton’s Gary Cahill seems to be back on the club’s radar and Bolton manager Owen Coyle is expecting something to happen before too long,
“Gary could play for anyone, and I really mean that, so if I’m honest I’m a little bit surprised there hasn’t been anything,” Coyle said.
“Looking across the marketplace and a few of the deals that are going on at this moment in time, it does surprise me that there hasn’t been that concrete offer.
It was believed that the player was looking to Manchester City to step in but while their interest has cooled, Spurs could take advantage. The price seems to have dropped from £20m when this story last came out to around £17m so could Gary Cahill be the first big money signing that shows Modric and everyone else that Tottenham mean business?
I rate Cahill but would prefer Spurs to go after Samba, Tasci or Hummels…all cheaper and as good as (or better) than the overpriced England international…
what about caulker? he is clearly an exceptional player and playing with king and gallas and dawson all season will aid his ailities surley?
Far too much monies! Caulker i think will step into King’s/Gallas’s boots in a few years. Kaboul will need to step up a gear next season. A Gallas-esque move should be on the cards to tie us over for the next 18-24months.
We dont need a centre back with King, Kaboul, Gallas and Dawson also remember Khumalo played and did well at the world cup and Bassong was excellent in his first season with us.

Totally agree with Jay. We have great cover Caulker is really one for the future and Kaboul showed he is emerging as a really fine player. Cahill is vastly overated, and why on earth we need Parker, who at 30 is injury prone, and, if his performance against Switzerland was representative, is a squad player at best and we have enough of those.
Harry needs to look forward to youth and not back to near pensioners in recruiting his squad.
