While we’re all likely to have a similar list of players that we’d like to see leave this summer, we’re all probably aware that some of those will still be at the club when August comes around.
Step forward Alan Hutton: Although the Scottish right back had a mixed season at the Lane last time around, a mysterious injury kept him out of the side amidst rumours of a ‘bust up’ with Harry Redknapp.
As June comes to an end there have been little or no links at all with regard to a transfer out of White Hart Lane but maybe that’s simply because there is no interest anywhere.
So is there any value in keeping Alan Hutton at the Lane for next season? Could his experience help Kyle Walker? Is he an able understudy for Corluka?
While this may be clutching at straws, if there is no interest from anywhere then Hutton could remain. If that’s the case, how can we best use him?
Without shadow of doubt Alan Hutton should go and I really wish he stuck to his guns and did not join us in the first place. He has been the biggest waste of £9 Million and a salary for a few years. He has offered absolutely nothing to Spurs and he must have taken a leaf out of David Bentleys book. Don’t let the door hit your arse on the way out.
If he doesn’t leave, (he bloody well should) play him higher up the pitch. However, i would like to see Walker play RW a bit next season.
Yes. It is a position where there is ample cover. If Spurs can get a decent amount of money for him then they should take it. The simple fact that he cannot displace Corluka is a red-flag. Plus Redknapp preferred to use Kaboul at right-back when he was fit.
He is good, but there hasn’t been a season-over-season improvement since he arrived. He has also shown that he cannot survive a full season.
Take the money and run.
With the two Kyles having performed so well, last season, Hutton would appear to be fourth choice for next season.
He has been linked with Rangers (old club) and Aston Villa (old manager) and it would seem best for Alan and for Spurs if he transferred to another club.
Your definition of so well is a lot lower than mine, one was in the Championship and one was terrible in the second half of his spell at Villa.

Been disappointed with Hutton, thought he would be a decent signing when he first came, but it has just not happened for him. Levy will not sell for less than the £9 million we paid for him and there is no chance of anyone paying that sort of money for him. So he is nailed on to be at the Lane next year.
Hutton is a good attacking back. Last season he was first choice for a while. If we can afford to keep him there is no reason why he should not stay. If nobody is interested it probably comes down to that clubs are fed up doing buisness with us as we are hard bargainers. Hutton was in the spotlight at Old Trafford before he signed for us and I also remember him finding it hard to move from Glasgow and being persuaded after a long spell of speculations. Hutton is not done as a player! Harry said last season it would be hard to improve the current team we have since competition for those players that do that is really hard.
If we can recoup at least 5m for him then we should do so, clearly redknapp doesnt rate him that highly and with walker back this season there really isnt a need to keep him, UNLESS..With the silly money being quoted for Central Defenders at the moment, would it not be better to use Kaboul and Corluka in the centre and let Hutton and Walker fight it out. This could raise Huttons game and drive Walker on to be better?? if the clubs wont pay let the man play! COYS
There is to much dead wood at spur`s I think that pav as not had a fare run robbie could have had a better run and player`s like jenus well less said the better
Hutton is not “deadwood” because he was first choice throughout a lot of last season, but he is earning and not deserving a mega wage. He is a major player for Scotland, but in a Spurs shirt he is not as immense. Not sure why. He has a decent season last time out. No he is not a natural defender, but he makes up for that in other areas.

If the same question was asked last summer I’d of said definately sell but hats off to him for how well he done last season his tackling and concentration have increased ten-fold, I’d sell corluka instead he’s slow and prone to errors and seems to bottle it in big games but he would fetch more on transfer market than Hutton which is another reason to sell as I see kaboul as first choice right back he adds much needed arieal prowess both in defencive and attacking situations, were more solid in defences when he plays he might not be as good attacking as corluka and Hutton but were more balanced as a side, so sell corluka keep Hutton as back up with walker covering rb and rm, I’d send naughton and gio on loan to a premiership club till January to see how they do before deciding wether to sell or not
