The injury news regarding Sandro may be a little worse than Spurs had feared and news has come through that he may be out for up to three months.

Whether that prognosis is true or not, it seems increasingly likely that he will miss the start of the season so Harry already has his first selection headache.

Worse was to come with reports that William Gallas had pulled a calf muscle in training and remained behind while his team mates flew to South Africa. While there is little news from the club in this respect, the injury isn’t thought to be serious and the player should be available when the season gets underway.

Other than Gallas and Sandro, only Giovani dos Santos is missing from the first team squad as he is away on Gold Cup duty so we wait for our first glimpse of the 2011-12 side when they take on Kaiser Chiefs this Saturday.

So with Sandro missing the start of the season and with Luka Modric’s future uncertain, do you think that we need to purchase a midfielder before the season’s start?

  1. at a time when i’ve decided modric should do one he’s more important than ever. if we have modric, kranjcar and huddlestone, as well as (dare i say it?) jenas, we should be okay for a month or two. there’s be no point in buying in a CM unless he’s class and once sandro recovers there will be too much competition for places just like with o’hara. would be nice to get rid of jenas and invest in some one of real quality and versatility. especially if kranjcar is off.

  2. I am becoming concerned in that Spurs are not making any progress in either selling or buying before the transfer window closes. All other clubs are making concerted efforts besides us. Am I correct in assuming that we are heading for another dissapointing year !
