While Spurs’ first team squad were struggling in South Africa, a Spurs XI were given their chance to shine against a strong Nottingham Forest side last Friday and in an impressive 3-2 win for our youngsters, Harry Kane wasted no time in showing his potential once again.
Kane scored twice in the win to put Spurs 2-0 up after 25 minutes and the second of his goals was a stunning strike from outside of the box. Forest replied in the second half before Kudus Oyenuga restored the two goal lead.
Despite a late consolation from Forest, Spurs held on leaving Tim Sherwood pleased with the performance,
“We played a strong Forest team and we were excellent,” Sherwood said after the game.
“It was a quite magnificent performance against a team that is strongly fancied for promotion from the Championship next season.
“The way we kept the ball, especially in the first half, was excellent.”
The youngsters travel to Brighton tomorrow and some of them will hope to make a case for a call up to one of the senior friendlies before the season gets underway.
Kane has to be better than Keane why dont they give him a go in the friendlies
