Naughton to get Premier League chance at Norwich

by Matthew Harris on July 22, 2011

Spurs have confirmed the loan of Kyle Naughton to Norwich in a deal which should see him play at Carrow Road for the whole of 2011-12.

The agreement will come as a relief for fans of the right back who had been spotting rumours linking him with a permanent move to Aston Villa. We all felt however, that Tottenham were not interested in losing the player and that’s been confirmed with this deal.

While the Spurs’ statement is predictably brief, Canaries’ manager Paul Lambert had this to say,

“We’re delighted to have secured Kyle’s services for the season. He’s a quality player who will come in and give the current group a hand as well as providing more healthy competition for places.

“He’s a pacy player and he’s also young and hungry to continue developing his career and we’re obviously pleased he’s got the chance now to do that with us here at Norwich City.”

Naughton spent last season at Leicester and this is the logical next step for him so we all wish him well for this stint at Carrow Road.

Makes sense and it should be a really good fit for Naughton. Progress like Walker did this past season and we will see him at the Lane next season.

I think over the past few seasons the club are doing the right thing, with young promising players going out in the ‘real world’ for there education.

It’s nice to see Caulker and Naughton making progress season after season, In Caulker’s case starting with spells in League, to the Championship and now to the Premier League.

You can see a thought process at the club to develop players.
