It’s rare to see a new name linked with a move to Spurs these days, but the rumours this week have a certain Dutch flavour to them. While Spurs may have been connected with Arjen Robben in the past, his name hadn’t cropped up for a while until the weekend, when several stories appeared.
The suggestion was that Rafael van der Vaart may have some influence over his countryman but as soon as the rumours appeared, it seemed that Bayern Munich were quick to deny them.
Elsewhere, the name of Ibrahim Afellay has emerged as a potential target after Barcelona tied up the signing of Chilean Alexis Sanchez. Afellay is 25 and has 36 Dutch caps to his name so far. After already struggling to command a place in the Barca first team, the arrival of Sanchez could make that quest virtually impossible.
The prospect of some Dutch influenced ‘total football’ is a tempting one and could be topped off by adding Huntelaar into the mix up front. While it’s probably no more than just a pipe dream, any one of those three players should be able to make a significant mark at White Hart Lane.

Robben wouldnt even consider us when he left Groningen, thats not going to happen, he wont be accepting £70k a week either! as for the other two Affelay we dont have room for until we clear players such as Bentley, Gio, etc, so unlikely too. Huntelaar would be a good signing, excellent finisher with more to his game than Defoe. He never stays long at a club though (always looking for a new signing on fee maybe) would be willing to take a rish though as he’s better than what we have. COYS

Anything is an improvement as long as we don’t end up with rejects from other London such as Drogba or Parker.

Its very evident that harry has very little to do in signing a player until it comes to the last minute so with this in mind, and the fact that we are back from SA you’d like to think that our chances of signing anyone are now much higher than they were in the weeks gone by. So fear not yid army , there will be some news very soon regarding someone special up top. Have hope people. If anyone has seen the pre-season friendlies you will have seen that we now have a world class right back in our ranks and that in VDV we could potentially have a 20 goal season player next year so i for one am feeling pretty good. Get in the man from Togo and its party time!!
Harry doesn’t sign players from outside the premier league. The ‘redknapp comfort zone’ I call it. At all his clubs harrys preffered to sign players either at the end of there careers or that have premiership experience. He rarely goes abroad in fact I don’t think he really knows the foriegn leagues that well as suggested by his signings over the years. If you say Levy signed VDV and Sandro due to his deal with international. All harrys signings have been brought from and proven in the premiership. Hence why he is trying to now sign adebayor! Harry’s failure to come up with targets abroad is what slows us down in the trsansfer market.
Affelay would be a great addition and is defo available, I dont get the whole -post start of modric saga- we`re skint/we`re tight as asreholes/we pay thruppence in wages thing. All of a sudden we cant afford to pay wages, how much do we think VDV is really on?
Bring in Affelay ( he will give Lennon a kick up the backside and stop him from being too complacent and plus Affelay can play in centre mid which is good!) and either Benzema or Huntleaar and we will be challenging for the title!COYS!

I think the CL money brought us back into profit following a loss reported in our financial statements from the previous year.
Its frustrating to continually read we need to off-load or trim the squad to raise funds – whilst I accept the position we need to get on and just do it!
Man Utd off-load those players surplus to their requirements to Sunderland – they do their business quickly, go out and buy big on what they think they need then shut up shop, business done. The new players get to know their team mates, what is expected of them etc.
We on the other hand are a month away from our first game and thus far whilst we’ve signed two young prospects (who are not ready for 1st team action I expect) and a back up goalie for Gomez – act now act fast, get those players you need in now and get on with it Mr. Levy -I understand the club is run brilliantly now but to challenge for honours, speed organisation and action is required now!
