Last season, Spurs stuttered a little in the New Year and this was due, in some extent, to injuries sustained to Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart. Up until this point, the team had relied on their goals so much, that we’d barely noticed the issues with our misfiring strike force.
Bale’s season never truly recovered and a bad injury against Blackpool ended his campaign completely. At first it was feared that he had picked up a break but after that scare passed, the good news for Spurs fans is that Gareth is fit and ready to go for the new season.
“I’ve got back from my ankle injury and don’t feel anything at all,” Bale is quoted as saying.
“I feel good, the whole team feels good and I think that shows.”
VDV is another player who showed his fitness in South Africa and these two will play crucial roles once again as the new campaign gets underway.
Harry’s inability to rotate the squad fully was a contributing factor as well as our trying to accomodate Rafa up front. this year when Bale is tired or makked out of a game I hope to see the squad players used. Rose,Krancar, maybe even Bentley. we must give these players a chance, if only to put them back in the shop window (in Bentley/Gio’s case) A fit Bale will win us games alone this season, but we must not over rely on Bale and Rafa. hope Harry realised this!
