As soon as the Gareth Bale rumours started, the papers were quick to start latching on to any story regarding a possible replacement. With that in mind, it wouldn’t surprise many Spurs fans to learn that it’s our old adversary the Daily Mail that is first in line with the suggestion that Lyon’s Michael Bastos is the player on Harry’s radar.
Bastos seems to fit the Mail’s bill as he can play either on the left wing or at left back and if you disregard the Bale aspect of the story, he looks a decent player. The Brazilian will be 28 next week and has been in France since 2006 when he joined Lille before moving on to Lyon in 2009.
He averages around a goal every four games from all positions and it’s thought that the French side would be willing to let him go for a fee in the region of €18m.
With 11 caps for Brazil, Michael Bastos seems to be one of the more promising names to be linked with the club this season, but not at the expense of Gareth Bale.

Ive read about 1,000 stories about us over the last 6 weeks and all the papers/sites/ITKS have come with exactly nothing, merely poking in the dark.

Me is spot on. Spurs are getting more grief than they have other seasons due to their success. Was in champ league, players did well in champ league, spurs no longer in champ league, therefore rumours come out. The same would happen to any team in this situation as people don’t care so much about Wigan player rumours so much.
Also twitchy face don’t help when he says he has to sell players to bring in. Clubs don’t want fringe players at inflated prices (eg jenarse) so naturally rumours start on players clubs might want to buy
