As you would expect, Spurs players are talking in positive terms ahead of the new season and although there have been no major signings at the Lane this summer, skipper Michael Dawson is confident that the club can retain their top four status at the end of May.

“We’re aiming to be in the top four, we’ve been in it, and the lads are hungry to be in it again,” Dawson is quoted as saying in The Independent.

“We had a little dip towards the end of the season, but we showed character by winning at Liverpool 2-0, where we haven’t won for a long time, and finishing fifth.

“We’re going to these places where maybe five or six years ago we weren’t getting wins, so we’re moving forward.

“We know it’s going to be tough, but we’ve got top players and we’ll be giving it our all this year.”

Meanwhile, Peter Crouch believes that Spurs have one of the best squads in the Premiership,

“I think it will be an exciting season and when I look around our changing room, I don’t see too many teams better than ours,” Crouch said.

“I believe in this squad and that we have good enough players to be challenging for that top four place. That has to be the aim.”

Dawson and Crouch may have key roles to play in that top four quest but the assessment of our squad is about right and with one or two additions in the right areas, Champions League football could be on the horizon once again.

  1. truth is dawson is average good squad player and crouch is utter garbage not fit to wear the shirt – we need two strikers diarra and samba and we will challenge for the championship never mind top 4

  2. Rico – Dawson is better than average! u are not fair with that comment. If he had a regular partner along side him he would look top class, trouble is gallas/king are always injured.
Maybe Kaboul/Corluka are the answer at CB? Or Samba if that happens.
Cant argue with your Crouch shout as he frustrates me beyond belief, but is looking like we’ll be stuck with him until harry leaves next year 🙁
