There appear to be no new injury concerns for Spurs ahead of tonight’s game against Manchester United and with Luka Modric ruled out, manager Harry Redknapp may well stick with the starting XI from last week’s Europa Cup Tie against Hearts.

The back five look set to stay as they are unless Harry decides to change the keepers around, otherwise Walker, BAE, Dawson and Kaboul should start ahead of Gomes.

In midfield, will Jake Livermore keep his place or will he be replaced by Tom Huddlestone who came on as a second half substitute last Thursday? Elsewhere, Lennon and Kranjcar could be retained with Bale slotting in wide on the left.

If VDV is fully fit, expect him to tuck in behind a lone striker and with Defoe scoring last week after Harry declared his expectations of a big season from him, JD could be the man to dislodge.

Pavlyuchenko could conceivably play alongside Defoe if Harry reverts to 4-4-2 but the likelihood is, there’ll be few changes from last week. Here’s our team to face United. What’s yours?

  1. That’s a very strong squad – potentially our strongest seeing as Modric is not only unavailable but soon to be out the door and into Cheatskis. Would love to see Diarra replacing Hudd and Adebayor as a replacement for Defoe though. That team would surely do some damage to Man Utd, City and other major teams in the PL.

  2. I would personally keep that same team but i would let Livermore carry on playing.. He looked good against Hearts and I think earned his right to keep his spot.. Hudds isnt properly fit so..

  3. Richard is spot on. Livermore will/should start. You could drive a bus through a midfield of Thudd and Kranjcar. Livermore has a good engine and I think he will start alongside Huddlestone.

    • Agree Livermore got a chance and took it he obviously can get goals and has a big engine for a game like this.

If it doesnt work out bring on Hudd and Crouch but otherwise same team as yours.

1 MAJOR thing pleassseee dont drop Kyle Walker for Corluka, I know Vedran has a good record against Young but Kyle Walker knows him well and can out run him if he does go on a sprint

      • Spot on — Walker’s speed in recovery is something you really shouldn’t give up, especially if he’s braced by the more experienced Daws. Charlie’s a good guy, but he’s a bit more of a fatty than I want against the Manure.

  4. Arry said on talksport that Huddleston is injured along with all the others so i would have thought it’ll be…….
    Gomes
    Walker Dawson Kaboul BAE

    Lennon Livermore Kranjcar Bale
    VDV
    Defoe

  5. Agree with Richard, keep a winning team (Livermore has more pace than Hudlestone as well, start him and always got the option to change).

Disappointing to see Luke so easily fooled by the media.Luka is going nowhere.

  6. I would go for Corluka, away to United, I think we need a more reliable defensive option against a player like Young. Walker could be ripped apart. Away to united as well, with a dodgy back four, I would go for Crouch up front. He can hold the ball up better, win the long ball if we’re under pressure, and cause problems in an inexperienced, unproven defense.

  7. i’d go for..
    ——————–Gomes——————-
    Walker——–Dawson—-Kaboul——–BAE
    ———————Thudd——————-
    —————-Niko———VDV————-
    Lennon———————————–Bale
    ———————-Defoe——————-
Gomes: I’d choose him over Friedel simply because he is capable of incredible performances and tonight i expect one from him.
Walker: i’d choose Walker over Corluka simply for pace to cope with Ashley Young
Dawson: No brainer, big game for him tonight got to do a big job!
Kaboul: Seems like the obvious choice, he is a great player that is capable of the odd mistake but is usually solid.
BAE: Mr Reliable, very consistent and relaxed player.
Thudd: Chosen to protect the back 4 and pick the passes from deep.
VDV: Playing in a slightly deeper role to help out with the problems in centre mid but with thudd covering he can get forward when we have the ball.
Niko: same as VDV but will be looking to get on the ball as and when he can.
Lennon: obvious choice out wide, should use his pace to beat evra and get the ball into the box for defoe, vdv, bale to get on the end of.
Bale: No Brainer. expect him to give smalling a torrid time when he has the ball.
Defoe: he is more likely to score than both crouch or pav, holds the ball up well and has fantastic movement!
    Prediction- 1-1(Rooney&Kaboul)

    • THE JOKE IS WE ARE ALL RAVING ABOUT DEALING WITH ASHLEY YOUNG, BUT WHEN HE PLAYED FOR VILLA WE NEVER GAVE A SHITE AND BEAT THEM TWICE LAST YEAR….HE WAS ANNONYMOUS…..I EXPECT THE SAME TONIGHT

ROONEY IS THE ONE TO WATCH

BENNY WILL HAVE NANI IN HIS BACK POCKET AGAIN

  8. I would opt for Corluka – he’s played Young well before, and has that bit of experience.

If Huddlestone is fit, I’d play him but, if not, I guess Livermore will get the nod alongside Kranjcar – tough game in store for those two!

I would also go with Pavlyuchenko ahead of Defoe – Defoe was terrible away at the top 4 clubs last year.

    • Defoe was terrible last year full stop! We are hoping that this season he will be better with a full pre season behind him. Last year the world cup distracted his preparations. This time round – no excuses.

  9. GK – I would play Friedel instead of Gomes for his experience and communication, as last thing we need is a headless chicken flapping at crosses
MID – I would keep the same, dont want to see young Livermores confidence destroyed if the game passes him by, just worry that Harry will do his usual and drop Niko. would make us more solid in CM but is a slap in the face for Niko if this happens.
ATT – go 442 if chasing a win/draw in 2nd half. take off anyone out of form or rafa if tired. bring on Pav not Crouch though as Pav can shoot LOL

  10. that is the most likely team to play tonight, Kranjcar did fantastic against hearts, his link up play with VDV was top notch, forget about modric this guy is desperate to play and does a good job! huddlestone will proberly start over livemore, the quailty between hearts and man u is very different and i dont think he is ready for that level, but huddlestone is not fully fit so its difficult. I would guess that livermore wil get 30 min runout at the end to impress again, i always would like to see rose or townsend(who looked lively last thursday)

  11. nathan are you Ossie Ardiles or what? who’s gonna win the ball with this midfield
    Niko———VDV
    Lennon———————————–Bale

    LOL

  12. So many injuries it’s hard. I’d like to make a case of attack being the best form of defence. Think i’d play
    ———————Friedal———————————-
    Walker—–Dawson——-Bassong————Benny——
    ———————Kaboul——————————–
    Lennon————-Kranjcar—————–Bale———-
    —————————–Rafa—————————
    ———————Defoe———————————.
I feel Kaboul offers more against what is a good fluent midfield what with no Sandro, Sarge and Hudd only at 80%. The 5 attacking players will be helped by our fullbacks and hopefully will have Nani and Young going the other way. Anyhow, we could piss on em and the ref screw us as usual! COYS!!!

  13. Hudd has got to start he will run the game and he is as influential as Modric except he can shoot, I know its unfair but I would have him in for Krancjar….if we are looking to win the game its the way we have to go Livermore and Hudd.
If Hudd is tired Krancjar on, if we are losing Kranc on for Livermore near the end.

Friedel for Gomes pleeassse….if not tonight will be the end of Heurelho

  14. Thing is @Joe, Corluka couldn’t live with Nani or Young’s pace and would sit deeper to compensate. That would lead to the other 3 sitting deeper too and inviting them on. If sandro was fit i honestly think he’d handle any comination of Cleverley, Carrick, Gibson, Giggs. he’d also be more adept at catching Rooney coming deep. A point would be a good result and a win would be like xmas come early.

  15. Lets see the line up tonight, my worry is that he starts with the partnership of crouch and vdv, and play the horrible long ball game upto crouch.
Dont get me wrong, I dont like having a go against our players, its just the long ball game, it upsets me watching that type of football, and is not the spurs way.
Your line up should give them a run for their money -COYS
