Souleymane Coulibaly was on the mark again for Spurs’ youngsters as they continued their impressive run of form in the NextGen tournament with a 2-1 win over PSV Eindhoven.
Tottenham now top their group with seven points from three games and although this was a much tougher challenge for the fledgling players, they showed strength and resilience to overcome tough opposition.
Coulibaly struck just before half time but PSV equalised on the hour. With three minutes to go and the game seemingly set for a draw, substitute Jack Munns netted the winner.
After drawing their opening game with FC Basle, Spurs obliterated Inter Milan 7-1 in their next match and while Tim Sherwood will be pleased with all his youngsters, it’s Coulibaly who continues to catch the eye.
With several Tottenham youngsters promoted to first team action this season, many fans will hope to see the Ivorian given his chance with the senior squad soon.
im not sure Coulibaly is elligiable to play in the Europa League, i read somewhere that any under 21s need to have been at spurs for a total of 3 years otherwise they have to be declared in the main 25-man squad. now i know VDV & i think Friedel were left out of that 25 man squad. so unless Coulibaly was named in that squad he cant play (he might have been because Falque was but i dont remember seeing his name), this is the reason Bostock hasnt played because due to the time hes spent out on loan he hasnt actually been at spurs for a total of 3 years!
I cant wait to see Soulman has he is affectionately named by me and now others. When i stumbled on him playing on euro sport playing against Brazil i thought he was a great prospect and wished we would sign him and the next thing he arrived at our club. And since i first saw him scoring goals for his country he has carried on in our shirt long may it continue when he plays for Harry.
I read somewhere that he is averaging more than a goal a game so far for us, i know ihe aint faced top notch teams yet but this boy is quality, our future. Cant wait to see him in the premiership, he couldnt do any worse than pavlyuchenko and imo is already better than pav.
Lets see him then… I just hear of him … Bring on our Soulman ….
I’d love to see him fast-tracked into the 1st team squad but if it’s not to be then he can’t be ready. Gotta be careful not to ruin the lad before he starts…
He should be on the bench against Wigan we was left with no strikers. Both Lennon and Hudds where 17 and are both struggling skeleton damage so we should be patient but we are not.
IF HE IS GOOD ENOUGH HE IS OLD ENOUGH SO START BLOODING HIM WITH A START ON THE BENCH WITH THE FIRST TEAM AND GIVE HIM A TASTE OF THE BIG TIME AND ALSO A GAME OF MAYBE 20 / 25 MINUTES JUST TO SEE WHAT HE`S GOT .
I’m not sure it’s that easy given the squad naming requirements and as Davspur pointed out, the time-at-club restrictions from EUFA.
Would love to see him though.
