Our opponents in tonight’s Europa League clash at White Hart Lane are quite simply the most successful team in Ireland. Shamrock Rovers have won their domestic league no less than 16 times and have lifted the FAI Cup on 24 occasions.

They have also supplied more players to the senior Republic of Ireland side than anyone else and while those stats are all relative to the quality of football in the Irish League, Spurs won’t be taking their opponents lightly.

Key players in the current Hoops squad include Gary Twigg, a Scottish born striker with a prolific scoring record in Ireland and goalkeeper Ryan Thompson, a Jamaican international who we hope will be kept busy over the course of the two ties.

Then of course there’s Rohan Ricketts! If you particularly want to know what our former player has been up to since he left the club then his story has been repeated at length in the tabloids. It will be interesting to see the reception he gets tonight…

Overall, even a fringe Spurs side should triumph, but this Shamrock Rovers team have some useful players in their ranks and as a unit they shouldn’t be underestimated.

  1. Dont you dare play anyone from our first 13 of

Fridel, Walker, Ekotto, King, Kaboul, VDV, Sandro, Parker, Modric, Bale, Krancjar, Ade, Defoe.

With that in mind I would pick:
    Cudicini
Fredericks(try him at RB) Bass, Corluka, Rose
    Lennon, Livermore, Carroll, Townsend
    Kane, Giovani

Pav and Pienaar on the bench, Pav doesnt deserve a start.

But with HR saying he will have 8 internationals I expect the only 3 non internationals to start being Rose, Livermore and Carroll so I expect

    Cudicini
    Corluka Kaboul Bassong Rose
    Lennon Livermore Carroll Pienaar
    Gio Pav

I just hope Kaboul doesnt get injured
