Our team to face Shamrock Rovers – What’s yours?

by Matthew Harris on September 29, 2011

Harry Redknapp has already told us to expect some more experience in the Spurs side to face Shamrock Rovers tonight and with players returning from injury, this should be the strongest team that we have put out in the Europa League since our opening game against Hearts.

It also makes it harder to predict but we can assume that Carlo Cudicini will continue in goal with Corluka and Bassong taking the centre half positions. Harry seems happy for Kyle Walker to play in these matches so he should feature at right back.

The left back slot could depend on whether Danny Rose is fit enough to play any part in this match. If he isn’t ready to start, Andros Townsend could slot in.

It seems likely that Aaron Lennon will definitely play in this game so expect to see him in his usual position on the right. Elsewhere in midfield, Harry may take the opportunity to give Sandro another run out while Steven Pienaar is battling against his latest injury to take his place wide on the left.

The likes of Tom Carroll and Gio Dos Santos also come into the midfield equation, as does Yago Falque who enjoyed a decent game against PAOK.

Reports today suggest that Roman Pavlyuchenko is fit and if they are correct, the Russian may renew his Europa League partnership with Harry Kane.

Here’s our team to face Shamrock Rovers, what’s yours?

If Rose is fit, then play him. Leave Townsend on bench. Pienaar or failing that, Dos Santos on left wing. Townsend can come on as sub in either LB or LM positions. Play Kane with Pav. A shame to leave Carroll out, but Livermore is more senior, and Sandro needs games.

Don’t you feel that we need a bit more firepower than just Pav, with Gio behind? We are at home, and need to pressure their defence. Besides, with Lennon playing, ShamRock will have to double up on him, and that will leave space for a striker partnership to exploit.

Dont want Pav playing either, but i think its highly unlikely Redknapp would choose someone untested like Kane (someone clearly better atm). I say give Pav a half, see what he does and then boo him off if bad. Ill be there Park Lane shouting loud, Bassong hat trick 7-1 :P

I agree with the guv about pav he’s just not bothered anymore & It’s clear he’s happy to let his contract run It’s duration so he can get fbig signing in fee with next club.
Having said that we all know harry will pick him & I can understand why, he needs to keep morale up among squad and pav sulking would not be what he would want plus harry has a better chance of getting rid of him in January if he gets the odd game.
As regards the team for tonight I wish we could rest walker in this one & wonder if it might be worth playing Livermore at rb just for this game with walker on bench if he was to struggle, Livermore has played in backfour for spurs x1 before and I can’t see us having to much trouble tonight so my team would be cudicini Livermore corluka bassong rose lennon sandro Carroll townsend gio pav subs gomes walker kaboul pionnaer krankjar Falque kane

Would love to see Kane feature as he looks pretty good and puts in a lot more effort than our Comrade Pav! Also anyone going tonight support the lads like we did at Wigan. The fans won us that game. Our support cannot be underestimated
