Hernanes linked to Tottenham move

by Matthew Harris on October 4, 2011

One of the latest names to be linked with a midfield berth at Spurs is Lazio’s Brazilian midfielder Hernanes. The player is 26 years old and is just starting to make a name for himself in Italy after experiencing a rather modest career back home in Brazil.

Much has been made in these stories of his international class but in fact, the player has won only three caps for his country to date, after first appearing for Brazil back in 2008.

Having said that, his form at Lazio has been impressive enough to see him back into the international fold and if Spurs are looking for a player with versatility, Hernanes could be the man.

Employed as a defensive midfielder for Brazil, he has a much more attacking role for his Serie A club for whom he has scored 11 times in 36 league games.
It’s thought that the player is being watched by Spurs who may be considering a bid in the region of €16m.

We should only focus on bringing in Leandro Damiao and Gary Cahill, or another quality CB if Cahill opts for Chelsea. We don’t need any new midfielders as we allready have one of the best range of midfielders in the world.

If we can swap him for pav then i will be happy. We still have money we Made in the transfer window that we didnt spend to buy Leandro Damaio.

I think the 4-2-3-1 is the way forward and the factível he is versatile and can Play dm + am is a good point.

4-2-3-1 for sure. Parker, Sandro, Hudd, and Livermore gives us depth in holding mids — do we really need another?

The three positions I see us needing are:
a forward (young and able to play alone or in a pair — a backup for Ade)
a defender (we have Dawson and Kaboul long-term, Gallas and King are excellent but how long can they keep going? Caulker next year, but we still need 1 more long term CB)
and a RM (Lennon isn’t good enough and should be sold while his value is still fairly high — get Goetze!)

Not sure what you mean by modest career? He played for Sao paulo the 3rd biggest team in the country and was there best player and one of the best in the league. Did you ever see him play out there? However this is not true as we have enough cm could only ever see this happening if modric was to leave as he is a similar type of player.

Don’t bother, he will stay at Lazio, where he’s a key playmaker… But for the right price, however…
