The injury to club captain Ledley King may not be as bad as first feared after he limped out of action during the first half of Sunday’s game at St James’s Park.
King suffered an abductor muscle problem and was replaced by Sebastien Bassong but scans have revealed just a grade one tear which could see him back in action much sooner than expected.
If there are no further setbacks during the player’s recovery period, he could even be fit for the away match at Fulham on November 6th, although a more likely target is a home fixture with Aston Villa, which takes place after the international break.
The news will be a welcome boost for Ledley, as he look to notch up the 20 games he needs that would earn him a new contract at the end of this season.
Is Ledley creating this pressure on himself to return hasitily just to get games under his belt?

Record speaks for itself. Only need to watch how much more solid we have looked for 4 & half games, only to be far less calm and solid as soon as he went off on Sunday.
i think if we had gallas on the bench than bassong i think we would have remained solid and calm bassong is a championship footballer lol

I can deal w/ A&E who is in the same boat……….A&E actually has the talent to make up for his mental lapses.
But poor Bassong……………….simply does not.
