A couple of swap deals could be on the cards this January with both Roman Pavlyuchenko and Heurelho Gomes being used as potential bait to bring new faces to the Lane.
While Pav has only featured as a fringe player this season, Gomes has been reduced to third choice goalkeeper after some high profile errors towards the end of last season.
Pavlyuchenko has been linked with moves to other premier league sides but a number of clubs in Russia could be interested in the former Spartak Moscow striker. With that in mind, a player plus cash deal has been mooted to help secure the services of CSKA Moscow’s Seydou Doumbia. The Ivory Coast striker has risen to prominence since moving to Russia last year and with transfer fees rising up to £30m in some reports, an exchange involving Pav could lessen the financial blow.
Elsewhere, Spurs have been linked on a number of occasions with Udinese’s keeper Zeljko Brkic and reports are now suggesting that the Serbian has emerged as our number one target in the quest for a long term replacement for Brad Friedel.
Brkic is on loan at Siena where he has impressed thus far and Spurs may be hoping that a swap deal involving Gomes could tempt his parent club to sell.
That 5 minutes of Roman P vs NCU was the funniest thing ever…………..
He jogging around………Like a sunday afternoon on a day off and the russian hit the local park for a light jog.
Can i help assist in packing his belongings and shipping this muppet out of town ?
Yo Arry……….Never again plz.
you cant influence a game in 5 mins on the pitch no matter who you are. Pav is frustrating but we need him as an option as we have left ourselves short up front. If he was played in a full strength team with the likes of modders, bale,VDV,parker he would score goals as he is a good all round striker. He has the strength to hold the ball up and bring others in to the game, and can finish as well as anyone currently at the club. what he lacks is heart, and effort at times but then if i was used as sparingly as Pav was i prob wouldnt give a toss either. It will be best for both parties if he leaves as he has never really had a manager show full faith in him. HR would rather use Crouch ahead of him, and considering Crouch’s goals to starts ratio compared to Pav’s thats an insult.
Re Gomes – cant wait to get rid of him as any team aspiring to be top 4 cant rely on some one as erratic as the Brazilian. Good stopper but thats not enough in todays game, you need a cool head and good communication.
COYS
I’m not saying it was a good by Arry to plug in the Russian…
But his feeble attempt out there…………Jogging all over the pitch when he should have running as hard as possible to re-gain possession so he can actually do something.
Defoe is worlds better then Roman….maybe not from a technical perspective, but from more of a basic level. heart , passion and work rate………
