Sky Sports were quick to anoint Scott Parker with the man of the match award after yesterday’s win over QPR but were there better contenders on the day?
Sky rightly suggested that everything that was good about our play seemed to begin with Scott but has he evolved into the Bryan Robson of the present day who only needs to step onto the pitch to receive such awards?
That isn’t intended to denigrate Parker’s contribution to the win which was as strong and vital as ever but should Gareth Bale have been given the champagne for his two goals that won the match?
VDV could have easily matched Bale’s tally on the day and the sublime strike that made it six goals in five games underlined the Dutchman’s ‘un-droppable’ qualities.
Aaron Lennon also had a better game and linked up well with Bale for his two goals while at the back, Kaboul and King renewed the club’s best defensive pairing so far this season.
So was TV right and was Scott Parker your man of the match or was there someone more deserving?
