It looks almost certain that William Gallas and Steven Pienaar will make their first starts of the season in today’s Europa League Cup tie with Rubin Kazan. The club needs to give them some long awaited game time but elsewhere, the side features some new names and is largely the ‘young team’ that Harry promised.

Redknapp started with Gomes in goal for the home game with Rubin and Messrs Bond and Jordan will need to decide between the Brazilian and Carlo Cudicini today. In front of the keeper, it looks like being Walker, Bassong and Gallas and with Danny Rose absent with an ankle problem, Andros Townsend may step in.

The real questions start in midfield where, if Pienaar starts, he could be joined by Livermore, Carroll and possibly Falque while Pavlyuchenko and Defoe could be the likely front pair after Dos Santos was ruled out through injury.

Harry Kane could also come into contention while some new names in the hat include Jack Barthram and Kevin Stewart.
Here’s our team to play Rubin Kazan, what’s yours?

  1. Looks pretty good although I’d like to see Walker given a rest. We’ve gone from having a wealth of right backs down to one, Corluka still injured?

  2. Based on who has travelled:

    Gomes
    Nicholson, Gallas, Basssong, Townsend
    Falque, Livermore, Carroll, Pienaar
    Defoe, Pav
SUBS: Fredericks, Parrett, Cudicini, Kane, Lancaster, Stewart, Waller-Lassen
