Sandro opens his account for Brazil

by Matthew Harris on November 11, 2011

Sandro opened his international goal scoring account last night as Brazil defeated Gabon in a friendly in Libreville. The soaking wet surface was described as treacherous and it made for a scrappy game and a scrappy goal from our midfielder.

As you can see, it wasn’t as pretty as his goal against Chelsea last season but Sandro showed a bit of a poacher’s instinct from close range as he followed up on a defensive error.

The second goal was added by Hernanes who has been linked with a move to Spurs, along with many other Brazilians, however Leandro Damiao didn’t feature in the match.

This was Sandro’s first strike in eight games for his country and after a slow start to 2011-12, he’ll be happy just to get some football under his belt.
