Our team to face Bolton – what’s yours?

by Matthew Harris on December 2, 2011

The main question this weekend appears to be whether Rafael van der Vaart will return to the starting line up and reclaim his regular place behind the main striker.

According to manager Harry Redknapp, VDV is fit once again to challenge for his slot but there is a doubt over Sandro who has picked up a groin problem.

“Rafa’s available, but Jermain’s in good form and scored a great goal at West Brom last week”, Harry said.

“I’m very lucky, they are both outstanding players and it’s a tough call between those two. To be honest, neither deserves to be left out.”

Elsewhere it seems to be a clean bill of health amongst those that have taken Spurs to third in the table so expect very few changes, if any.

At the back, Friedel should be behind Walker, Kaboul, King and BAE. In midfield, with Modric back to fitness, it seems unlikely that Sandro did enough at West Brom last week to oust Aaron Lennon on the right even he is fit.

That leaves the front two and while Harry Redknapp will always say that it’s a tough choice between VDV and Defoe, many feel that he favours the Dutchman and if he’s capable of starting, he should slot in behind Adebayor.

Cant disagree, the best lineup to start with!

My team is the exact same. No reason to chance a winning formula and this squad is the, er, winningest of formulae.

I don’t see too much trouble with this one… touch wood. Bolton look incapable of doing anything against anybody at the moment; I wouldn’t bet against Coyle being the next manager to lose his job now that Kean’s got a new contract. It’s a shame Sandro’s a doubt because this would be a good match to give him 30 minutes. Same with Defoe – bring him on for VDV if we’re leading going into the second half, give those dicky hamstrings a break.

the team picks itself atm, Defoe for a tiring VDV after the hr. Am going to the Lane for this one so hope Spurs can keep up the great form. After Weds night keep gallas and corluka well away from the line up until they are fully fit!!

start defoe and keep vdv for another week. Cant keep dropping defoe everytime vdv is fit, wont do his morale any good. Scored last week and his partnership with adebayor is just as good. If defoe, sandro, dawson, etc see the 1st team is a closed shop then were fucked

I don’t care about Defoe’s morale as he is an inferior player to VDV. But everyone else needs to see that they have a chance to keep a place, yes.

Original…. No but seriously I kinda agree with Deco that if VDV is injured then he must wait at least one game before he fully returns – UNLESS it is a difficult game. Bolton at home should not be taken lightly, BUT it is not one of the difficult games. In the long run I prefer VDV, but Defoe does deserve at least one more game to stake his claim – especially in a game that could suit his skills.

Great to see the first teamers back, I think Walker has showed us how poor Corluka is, I would keep him as a squad player but he should never start.

Pienaar, Pav and Bassong should be the next 3 we get rid of they just cant be trusted.

Vertonghen, Hoilett and Anelka in
