It was probably inevitable that Kyle Walker’s breakthrough season should have been greeted with a host of rumours linking him with a transfer abroad.
As most Spurs fans expected, Kyle returned home after his loan spell at Aston Villa to make the right back slot his own and after being called up to numerous full England squads, he finally made his international debut last month.
Maybe it was Harry Redknapp’s comparison of Walker with Roberto Carlos that sparked off the Real Madrid rumour – a case of creative journalism taken to the extreme maybe? Whatever the reason, it wasn’t surprising to see the Daily Mail jump on that Bandwagon and they have gone on to suggest that Roma are also interested.
Spurs have been quick to dispel any rumours linking their best players with moves out of the club and at this early stage of the 21 year old’s career, we can hopefully file this as another non-starter.
