Our team to face Stoke City – what’s yours?

by Matthew Harris on December 9, 2011

Harry Redknapp has a few injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s game with Stoke but the extra day could give Ledley King, Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale the time they need to get fit.

There is cover in place for King and JD but Harry will certainly be reluctant to take to the field without Bale, who is back to his best and scored both goals here in our 2-1 win last season.

“We’ve one or two knocks,” said Harry. “Jermain has had a bit of a hamstring this week, Ledley took a bang on the knee in training last week and Gareth has had a problem this week. We’ll wait and see how they are.”

In front of Friedel, it seems to be a straight choice between King and Gallas to line up alongside Walker, BAE and Kaboul but the real questions start in midfield. With a resurgent Stoke likely to provide their usual, physical threat could Harry revert to a more defensive 4-5-1?

Alternatively, a four man line up in the centre could be more likely with cover for Bale coming from Pienaar or even Kranjcar who returned to full training this week. That would leave VDV to slot in behind Adebayor if Defoe doesn’t make it.

Here’s our team to face Stoke, what’s yours?

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS TEAM SELECTION.
Please be careful in secound half, as Stoke always come strong in the second half.

Sandro and Parker are a must for tomorrow. Teams that take points away from the Britannia have to stand up to Stoke’s physicality.

Friedel
Walker Kaboul King BAE
Sandro Parker
Lennon Modders Bale
Ade

King out for Gallas and Bale for Rafa if needed. Hope the lack of height won’t be too much of a problem.
