Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is among the last of the Premiership bosses to point the finger at the referee but even he couldn’t stay silent after yesterday’s display by Chris Foy in the 2-1 defeat at Stoke.
Foy was involved in a number of contentious decisions including the sending off of Younes Kaboul and a crucial offside flag on Emmanuel Adebayor.
“Adebayor was way onside,” said Redknapp. “There were two blatant handballs and the referee missed them.
“I thought he had a poor day.
“Kaboul gets a yellow card for saying to the referee, ‘That was handball on the line’, which it was. He hasn’t sworn. The second one was harsh – it was a foul but to actually send someone off and ruin a game was farcical really.”
Overall, Harry felt that we started slowly but ultimately deserved something from the match,
“Stoke started well, they got after us, pressed us, played a really high tempo and it was difficult to live with them in the first half. They deserved to be in front, no doubt about it.
“We dominated the second half. We got after them. We just couldn’t get that second goal and we needed one or two decisions to go our way, that makes a difference.
“I couldn’t have asked for more in the second half and we deserved something from the game.”
The defeat leaves Spurs in third place and after a trip to Shamrock Rovers on Thursday, we host Martin O’Neill’s Sunderland at the Lane next Sunday.

it takes away a little of your love for the game every time these bad decisions are made, like last week some people say we only walloped Bolton because they play with 10 men incorrectly.
One dogy scouser ruined my sunday and the worst part is there is not a scouser who is not dodgy.
Spurs first half performance was dismal & this also contributed to our loss.
very poor decisions, but if we didnt concede the two goals it wouldnt have mattered.still very frustrating.coys spurs lets just win the next one.
Our performance doesn’t matter as even when we play very well we have been robbed by the ref
Old ‘Arrys right, you woz robbed! Let’s face it half the Stoke team should have been sent off for time wasting. Kaboul should never have been booked merely for suggesting that Mr. Fow should have gone to Specsavers, nor for his brainless tackle on Walters. Was the Shawcross hand ball any worse than Fan the Farts one against Arsenal. What goes around comes around.
Of course any reasonable referee would have given Adebayor every opportunity to score from any offside position just to make up for the number of chances he squanders week in week out.
Before complaining about referees Old ‘Arry should look at his own naivety in not countering Stoke’s very well known playing style, his shocking defence, his persistence with an out of sorts Fan the Fart, Bale the one trick pony and the almost total isolation in midfield of the one truly classy player Modric.
Robbed? More like chucked it away.
You obviously didn’t watch the game….
I can understand a few missed calls…..no doubt. That’s part of playing away from the lane…
But just look at that 15 second sequence.:
Gallas ripped down when he has a simple tap in
Shawcross clears ball on goaline w/ elbow
Ade onsides on the disallowed goal
That is 15 seconds from that 90 minute game….then start itemizing the rest.
I’m not saying we deserved the win….But that was the worst officiated game I’ve seen in a while and Just happy to have my trip to Stoke well behind the club.
@Sympathetic Gooner: It’s all well and good dishing out this crap but you need to get your facts right. You mean to compare the Crouch handball in the lead up to the goal with Van Der Vaart’s. Adebayor was ONSIDE – and if you don’t realise that then you know zero about football. One final thing: I can’t wait for Van Persie to get injured – which he will – cos none of the rest of the squad can score a goal for your lot!!!!
Taken the bait.
Twat
Hooked.
Fancy boasting about being a mindless moron. A cretinous troll. No class !!!!!
Sympathetic Gooner, u dont know much about football, complaining about vdv is a joke after the many years of arse cheating againts us. Woodgate shuda been sent of 2
It’s been a bad season for referees all round. Adebayor’s disallowed goal in particular was a dismal piece of officiating and Shawcross’ elbowed clearance off the line was awful too. Plus his blatant foul on Kaboul in the box, just got a handful of his man and didn’t let go… he shouldn’t have been on the field at the end of the game. Stoke played really well in the first half, so fair play to them, but we should have come out of the game with a point at least.
Still, we’re hardly the only team to fall foul of bad refereeing decisions and what’s done is done. Onwards and upwards; put it behind us and let’s smash Sunderland next weekend! Hopefully City will crush Chelsea tonight and Arsenal next weekend so we can keep a bit of breathing space in third before Chelsea come to the Lane… key game, that.
Oh, and here’s to more technology in football. Next season should be a good start and using the same tech to decide whether to give a goal that could have been offside is surely a logical next step to goal-line technology to check whether a ball’s actually in or not.
