Who was your man of the match against Sunderland?

by Matthew Harris on December 19, 2011

Many of the newspapers and websites are giving the nod to VDV this morning for his all round contribution to yesterday’s win. Rafa linked up with the two strikers well after Harry shuffled the pack on 27 minutes and his neat pass let in Pavlyuchenko for the goal.

Pav could conceivably be a contender too while elsewhere, Scott Parker made his usual telling contribution.

In the absence of Bale, BAE was asked to come forward more and but for an unfortunate intervention from VDV, could even have opened the scoring in the first half.

Other members of the defence were quiet, but generally solid when they needed to be.

Overall, do you agree that Van der Vaart was yesterday’s stand out performer or is there a more worthy winner?

Sandro had a superb game with some brilliant tackling right on the edge of our box and without giving away free kicks.

I gave it to Adebayor, it could have easily gone to Sandro instead……..Parker and Modric were asked to do the creating from the midfield and neither managed it.

For Thursday we have to go with a more attacking side if Bale and Defoe are fit then

Modric Parker Sandro Bale
Defoe Ade

if not

Townsend Parker Sandro Modric
VDV Ade

We need at least one quick winger either Townsend or Gio has to play

I would love us to play the below team VS Chelski

———————–Friedel—————–

————Kaboul—–Gallas—-King——–

Walker———–Parker—–Sandro——Bale

—————-Van-der-Vaart—Modric——-

———————-Adebeyour————–

If not Townsend left Bale right…..

Dude…….Love this.

But i would probably roll w /Defoe instead of VDV……leverage his pace vs a slow CFC Backline.

my vote goes to Sandro, and he has played himself into the Chelski game with that performance. CM has to be Sandro and Parker to track Mata and Lamps. we also need to attack their full backs with pace so if Bale doesn’t make it I would opt for Townsend or maybe even Gio (1 last chance/or play for a move). my side
Friedel
Walker-Kaboul-King-BAE
Modric-Parker-Sandro-Bale(or Gio)
Van der Vart
Adebayor

Cudicini,Gallas,Rose,Pav, Defoe, Krajcar,Townsend

Why is Redknapp saying he cant find better than Pav? What a load of crap. Thanks for the goal yesterday Pav but you gotta go.

VDV gave a passing masterclass yesterday. Playing a brilliant 2nd half. Best man on the pitch!

Sandro was my MOTM with his tough timely tackles and intelligent running into spaces .. unleash this boy now Harry we need his explosive talent and energy for every game.. VDV comes a close 2nd with the way he took over in 2nd half.. we always count on his genius & fighting spirit to unblock the stalemate.. Brad , King and Gallas solid as rocks at the back.
