While Aaron Lennon is definitely out of tomorrow’s match with Chelsea, Gareth Bale is also rated as very doubtful for the clash.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the game, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp gave his comments on how the two wide men are progressing and the news on Lennon is a little more encouraging than first thought,
“Gareth’s struggling at the moment,” reported Harry. “He hasn’t been able to train. He’s very doubtful.
“Azza’s got a hamstring injury, but he shouldn’t be too long. It’s only a minor tear. He could be fit in a couple of weeks.”
Spurs have enjoyed the rare luxury of having a settled midfield for so long now and in the likely absence of Bale and Lennon, Harry’s team selection could be crucial in keeping our great run going.

OMG, if we play modders and vdv on the flanks, we are doomed. Harry must play these 2 in their favoured positions. Play Walkwer in place of Lennon and kaboul at rt back. If Bale not playing, then it has to be Kranjka, Townsend or Rose. We must have pace on the wings, with Modders dictating play from the centre… OK HARRY
Here’s how to do it Harry old boy. If we don’t have bale as well as lennon missing here is the team. 3-5-2 Kaboul-King-Gallas. Walker-Sandro-Modric-Parker-Assou. Ade-Vdv. If bale is fit same formation but bale instead of assou.
Parker and modderz in the middle Pienaar on one side and Giovani on the other it’s not perfect but it’s still quality they are both in superb form they are the best replacement Giovani is quick has the skill and can finish he needs playing time don’t play Townsend he’s not ready
He has only ever played easy teams and Kranjcar is quality but not on the wing as he was rubbish at the start of the season
King + Gallas at the back as well with Walker and Ekotto

When harry changed to that formation against sunderland we played a lot better! We had the pace of assou and walker as wing-backs! And I also agree not to put moders out on the left! Put him in the middle with parker and sandro either side! So my team choice would be:

I agree with Spurs84, we should not try with those who haven’t played regularly in prem league, Gio and Town are good but yet the won’t be trusted against team of chelsea standard they will surely fail….. But with VDV, SANDRO, MODRIC, PARKER in the middle, also with assou and walker coming forward time to time it will provide a strong goaling opportunities for both VDV and ADE… At the end I bet MODRIC will score in this match.
i would love to see Walker at RWB or RM but the fact is Gallas isnt good enough to play against Chavs, he will be over run and out-muscled, why mess around with a defence better than anything we have had in yrs. keep Pienaar away from line up to, he aint tall enough to see over the ball (just a busy Jermain Jenas with dreads)

Anyone wanna put a fiver against me that Bale starts? Someone at the club saw him train. Makes me think this maybe to catch AVB unaware.
This is an important game and Harry knows it’s not the time to start making big changes to our formation because of a couple of injuries. Sandro and Parker are a very effective two to have in the middle. Modric can play on the wing and drift inside to let the full back attack with pace. I think Bale will play so switching Mod to the right wing is not ideal but the best option. Its no time to start buggering around with three at the back.
