Harry Redknapp has hinted at another quiet January for Spurs fans but is this just a smokescreen or will the dealings at White Hart Lane next month really mirror those of 2011?
In goal, there are no immediate problems but if Heurelho Gomes does leave, it may make sense to look for a permanent replacement for Brad Friedel now, rather than later.
So who do you want? Names mentioned so far include Tomasz Kuszczak, while the Zeljko Brkic rumours have also re-appeared this week. Alternatively there’s Tim Krul or Michel Vorm?
In defence, the suggestion is that Michael Dawson’s return to fitness will end any move for another defender but should we still look at Gary Cahill or Jan Vertonghen at Ajax?
In midfield, it seems unlikely that there will be any vacancies although the club have been strongly linked to AZ 67’s Rasmus Elm. Elsewhere, Eden Hazard might be top of many fans’ Christmas list.
If Harry does manage to keep both Defoe and Pavlyuchenko then we might have to wait until the summer before the striking issue is resolved. Alternatively, the Brazilian close season could see the Leandro Damiao issue settled once and for all while another strong link is with Amauri of Juventus.
Alternatively, what about Llorente, Huntelaar or others? Or would you be happier to just wait and see a permanent deal tied up for Adebayor in the summer?
As far as departures go, it may be a barren window with most of the deadwood having left in the summer. On the other hand could the likes of Pav, Pienaar, Gomes and others be heading for the exit door?
The post Christmas list is yours so what or who do you want?

Leandro Damiao, Jan Vertonghen & Tim Krul
Go with that Jeremy sounds ok to me.
I am not sure we should sign a CB, Caulker is looking very good at Swansea. Add to him Kaboul, Dawson and King we should be ok, maybe one other is required. I think our main concentration should be to fix our striking options once and for all. However, i can see us not bringing in anyone this year.
No CB. Vorm and Podolski.
Some players will be stars in European championships in 2012,Fees will increase, few become one day wonders so beware !! Can players fit into Spurs,Premier League, important–Young promising,To old nearly past it & IS Big Bucks the motivator ? Throwing names about is a game ! Tread carefully, some positions are delicate.Present Stars at Spurs bought V.young or mid 20`s. David Pleat knows a players worth & K.Bond.+Tim Sherwood,Poldolski No
We desperately need another striker in the mobile target man ilk. I’m not gonna throw out names on this one. But you can be sure that we need goals in a big way this season if we are going to compete with Manchester. I reckon we desperately need cover for Bale/Lennon. Niko is great but does not have the pace and skill to get in behind. I like Hoilett big time. At CB i reckon we’re ok but this depends on the 2 old timers staying fit. Too much of a gamble? I’m not so sure. I think we’ll be ok till the summer= sell Bassong and get a high end CB. A striker is so important. If ADE gets injured we have 0 alterntives in my opinion. Please Levy spend some Moolah.
The big ask is not to lose any of the key players.
I would sooner give the youngsters a chance than buy another stop gap like Pienar (He is a reasonable squad player but I am still not sure why we bought him). There is promise in some of the youngsters and we should go with them.
Current CBs: Dawson, Kaboul, Gallas, Bassong, King
Bassong is not good enough and both Gallas and King are coming close to the end.
That leaves Dawson and Kaboul, with Caulker coming in — we still need a 4th long-term CB:
Get Vertonghen!
Forwards: Pav needs to go, and only Ade is good enough to play alone up front. If we (hopefully) sell Pav and Ade gets injured that means both Defoe and VdV would have to play; they’re not a terribly complimentary pairing and it would leave us with no one on the bench (unless Gio counts, which he shouldn’t). We do have Coulibaly, who might be great in the future, but we’ll have to wait.
Get 1 of (in this order): Damiao, Llorente, or Dzeko (here’s hoping he falls way out of favor!)
CMs are fine but we need cover on the wings. In this order: Goetze, Hazard, Eriksen, or Hoillet.
Goal: Vorm or Krul.
Out the door gomes corluka bassong gio pav,
Out on loan Carroll townsend kane livermore
Ins gk wait till summer Adler bay lev free, or sommer basel
Cb serdar Tasci stuttgart can cover rb & cm also
Rw seamus Coleman cover for fullbacks also
Cm Ever banega cover for modric
Fw rondon malaga or negredo Seville
I can see Daniel Levy buying someone no problem this January. He can see how close we are to a title push and he’s an intelligent man. Perhaps Leandro but I would go for Tevez.
No Tevez, please!
Doc — Coleman would be a good fit. Lennon’s probably better, but Coleman is close and seems to be getting better each season. He’d either push Lennon towards his potential and offer backup — our grow as a player and outright surpass him. We win either way.
I also like having Bale, Rose, Walker, and Coleman who can all play fullback or outside mid — potentially even swapping sides; it adds a lot of flexibility to our attack and cover for depth.
Out – Bentley, Jenas, Pac, Gio, Pienaar, Bassong, Gomes
In – Vorm/Krul, Cahill or Vertonghen, Hoillett, damiao or Berbatov or Podolski
COYS
i would like to see pablo hernandez, santi corzola or jesus navas along with Vertonghen plus another LB or RB and negredo, soldado or llorente in spurs need to look at signing and out and out striker i like ade but his finishing is horrible sometimes and he misses easy chances one of these spanish strikers is worth signing to garantee top four and push for the title this season and next and bring in Krul he is a proven EPL keeper. Out with Pav, Corluka, Bassong, Gio, Gomes and out on loan with kane, livermore, townsend, carroll and rose as he needs more game time
