Townsend the latest to extend his Spurs contract

by Matthew Harris on December 22, 2011

Just over a week ago, an isolated story appeared suggesting that Andros Townsend was on his way out of the club after a training ground ‘disagreement’. It seemed unworthy of comment at the time and that view has been backed up by the news that Andros has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2016.

It’s been a decent year at the club for Townsend, having started with his first goal for Spurs against Charlton in January. Last week he doubled his tally with a strike in our 4-0 win over Shamrock Rovers and his performances in the Europa League make him an outside shout to replace Gareth Bale on the left wing this evening.

Another loan spell is likely for January but it seems that Andros Townsend may still have a bright future at White Hart Lane.

Could not agree more. The more you see him the more you see that he can do. Same as Livermore and Caulkner, they play with such ease and comfort.

Really pleased with this news. If these lads do go out on loan it would be great if they went to either a top Championship club or another Premier League camp. Southhampton, Swansea,Wigan all these teams play football the way we do. Freeflowing and the like.
