After dominating the first period at Carrow Road last night, Tottenham had to show great patience in turning that dominance into a vital win. With sides all around dropping points, Spurs read the script for once and sealed the victory that cemented third place – four points ahead of nearest rivals Chelsea and with a game in hand.
After the match, Harry Redknapp hailed that patience and suggested that it was the key element in the win.
“We just had to stay patient” Harry said. “We had to keep passing the ball around, not turn it over and if we did that, we’d create openings. We had to be more ruthless and we’d score and we eventually worked an opening by keeping possession.”
Harry praised his defence for staying solid but reserved his highest praise for match winner Gareth Bale,
“He’s an amazing player, an amazing footballer,” added Harry.
“When he started running away for that second goal, you knew there was no catching him.
“He’s got everything – six-foot-two, he can head the ball, he’s as strong as an ox, he can run, dribble, shoot, he can do the lot.”
Next up for Spurs is a trip to Swansea on New Years Eve before a run of home games next month.
