There’s obviously no transfer news as yet from White Hart Lane but surprisingly, the rumour mill is also a little quiet after the Christmas break.
As far as any potential incomings are concerned, we looked at the possibility of either Christopher Samba or James Tomkins at the back while our search for a striker could see Harry secure the services of Lille’s Moussa Sow.
Sow has been discussed before and has been prolific in France since joining his current employers. It’s thought that Spurs and Arsenal may be battling for the services of a man whose transfer fee is likely to exceed £20m.
Meanwhile, the exit door may be beckoning for some of our fringe players but Harry has moved to dismiss rumours of a departure for either Steven Pienaar or Vedran Corluka,
Speaking about Pienaar and his absence from the squad to play WBA, Redknapp declared
“I’m sure he wants to play. He had a virus, he wasn’t well, otherwise he would have been on the bench. We haven’t had any approaches for him, not at the moment.”
At suggestions that Corluka would be on his way, Harry’s response was far more succinct,
“No chance,” he concluded.
Overall however, there’s little to report and it could be a very quiet month as Harry has been suggesting.
James Tomkins, the Spammers defender? No, no, no. Why would a team in the vying for the league title go searching for a defender from a league below? Spurs made that mistake before with Bassong and we’ve seen the consequence of that.
Not exactly correct, when he said “not a chance” he was referring to a move to West Ham, not a move away in general and he has made no comment at all that Pienaar would be staying only explaining why he wasn’t on the bench for one particular game.
The interesting point from our last game is how totallu unfit Krancjar is meaning it is impossible to pick him even if he were good enough, which he isn’t. This shows that he doesn’t try in training. Pienaar looking unfit ever since he got here, Bassong didn’t bother trying in the Europa League. Compare them with Defoe who goes off and does extra himself so he is fit enough to take his chances, big difference in attitude. If you are not prepared to work hard and fight for a place then you are not worth a place.
Sow had a great season last season at Lille and doing ok this season, but at times in France he has struggled to hit a cows arse with a banjo and is hardly the most gifted of strikers. I really can’t see any club offering £20 mill for him and recall Harry mentioning late last season after a scouting trip to Lille that he hadn’t seen any better players there than we already had. I think the whole Sow link is something of a pigs ear
If were going to sign a striker we must do find a striker who is worth £8 mill who has the penitential to be a striker who is worth £20 mill. Just like how we got Bale, Modric, VDV ect.
Can Spurs afford to take that chance with the title on the line, Blake?
When your a club like Spurs that doesn’t have the resources like the City’s , Real Madrid’s or Chelsea’s just to name a few. It’s a bigger risk to spend £20 mill on a single player. Also you have to rely on what got you into this position in the first place. Anyway it’s in the next 2 years were Spurs really have to make the big push if we won’t them to win a title.
It all depends on whst Harry and Levy believe the long term future is for Adebayor. I think if there is any chance of buying him they will put the money into that, however we still need a back up for him and I would take a punt on Zamora and get rid of Pav.
I agree first and foremost it all depends on the situation with Ade, but Zamora is 30 and their more promise in signing a youngster who doesn’t know any better than give it his all.
