Michael Dawson declared that he was delighted to be back in the fold after his contribution helped Spurs to a 3-0 win over Cheltenham at the weekend. However the news was tempered with reports that club captain Ledley King has suffered yet another injury setback.

“It was great to be out there playing again,” said Dawson after the match. “There is no better feeling than walking out at White Hart Lane.

“Four months in the gym is certainly not what you want but it happens in football and speak to any player, that’s the down side.

“When you do get back out there playing again it’s a great reward for that hard work.”

However, the latest news surrounding King is a big blow to the defender who is hoping to notch up the twenty games needed to secure a new contract at the end of the season.

“Ledley did his hamstring on Friday,” Harry Redknapp said.

“He had a little jog and tore his hamstring, we think. He has gone for a scan. We don’t have the results yet but he only went for a little easy jog and his hamstring went.”

Spurs’ central defenders do seem to rotate their injury issues at least, although on occasions this has left us with just two fit players to fill the centre half roles. With just Dawson, Kaboul and Bassong fully fit at present, Harry may just be forced into the transfer market this month.

  1. Sign a CB. See where we are at the end of the month in terms of injuries there and if looking alright then, we can sell Bassong. If King and Gallas still have problems then keep him til the end of the season. Bring Caulker into the fold then and perhaps let Gallas go.
Priority fo me is striker and Pav replacement.
I know he does stuff here and there but think we need something different. A striker who can stay onside occasionally, someone who has more than just ‘get it onto the right foot and shoot from anywhere’ (we have Defoe for that) and someone you feel confident they may actually score when in a good position.
There’s gotta be someone, and we must have some money to make it happen surely? We need more goals to win the league and so we must get a real goalscorer.

  2. Gutted King has picked up this injury, we really are a different side when he plays. Lets hope hes not out for to long. On the up side the timing couldn’t be better with Dawson coming back. Some of the critisism he gets is quite unfair, I think hes a lot better than a lot of fans give him credit for.

    • Parker, Sandro, Huddlestone, Livermore and you want another defensive midfielder! Yes we have injuries but Parker will be back any moment until he gets another yellow card when Livermore will have to cover for the one game.

We only have 1 right back as Corluka doesn’t even bother in training any more and is not fit.

      • Not so sure about Parker and Sandro – Physioroom.com does not give a return date. That leaves us with Huddlestone, who’s got no match praxis and Livermore. Knowing the quality we have (but injured) I thought about borrowing one. If Parker is back soon, great. If he gets another problem with his knees later and the transfer window is shut goodbye 3rd place.

You’re right about RB, another problem.

  3. I think we should get one cb samba /st have a deal with wolves fletcher for pav people say he aint good enough but with quality like bale modric and vdv round him i think he could do it and i heard A johnson aint happy at city he wants to play and his wages aint that high get him.
