Spurs’ official website has announced the results of fans’ voting for the goal of the month and player of the month for January and while the announcements may not have been that surprising, were there other, more worthy contenders?
As for the player of the month, fans awarded the accolade to Scott Parker who has now won the award for four out of the five months that he has been at the club. It might be hard to argue with that decision but did either Luka Modric or Gareth Bale provide more telling contributions to the club’s successes in January?
Turning to the goal of the month and the club only listed two contenders – BAE’s screamer against Everton and Gareth’s equalising strike against Manchester City. Ultimately, the Bale effort won with nearly 75% of the vote but were there really only two goals worthy of consideration?
Luka chipped in with two impressive goals against Wolves and Wigan while a Bale double in our 3-1 win over Roberto Martinez’ side was also worth considering.
Overall do you agree or has the website vote got it wrong?
Scott Parker without a doubt has given us the steel at the back that we’ve never really had. We had an off night night against Liverpool, but he didn’t. If we’d had him last season I’m convinced we could’ve finished 1 place or so higher, an awful lot of stuff gets cut by him that was getting through last year, definitely agree. As for goal of the month that depends on what you want, but the more you watch that one from Gareth, the better it gets.
