Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed an interest in Belgium International Eden Hazard but he fears that the big-spending giants of English football may prove to be a more attractive proposition for the exciting midfielder.

Hazard sparked a media frenzy by mentioning Tottenham when he spoke about a possible move to the Premiership,

‘Maybe it will be Tottenham. It is a great English club,’ Hazard said last month.

‘I said that I would go to England and there is very good players at Spurs.

‘I have not yet signed. This is going to happen soon’.

Harry is quoted in L’Equipe about the situation.

“Our owner is willing to pay for an exceptional talent, like Eden Hazard,” he is quoted as saying.

“I have seen him several times recently in Marseilles and then also against PSG in the final of the Coupe de France.

“But I also know that Manchester United is looking at him and also Manchester City.

“It will be difficult to get him, but I like him a lot.”

Redknapp went on to speak about Olivier Giroud, the Montpellier striker whose name came up last week.

“He looks good, I have read many good reports on him and I have a scout following the French championship,” he added.

The future of Hazard in particular will be interesting to monitor but automatic qualification for the Champions League next season would make White Hart Lane a more attractive destination.

  1. Redknapp should just shut up. Why can’t they just work behind the scenes and close it. We signed Modric without anyone really knowing about it. It would be good if we could do the same with other

  2. Didn’t Hazard say he doesn’t want to go to one of the very top clubs because he wants to be assured of playing time at this stage of his career? The lad seems to have his head screwed on and knows what he wants in terms of what would be best for his career. Essentialy he wants a club like Spurs because he sees us a the next stepping stone…which is fine by me if it means quality talent at WHL, even if only for a short while.
