It’s a headline that we’d all love to see at the moment but in this case it refers to Harry Kane who is currently on loan at Millwall. It might be a little exaggerated too but after a quiet start at the New Den, his goals have taken the south London side to mid table safety.
Harry has found the net 8 times in 24 games and has now reached that point in a loanee’s life where he has to consider whether to return to his parent club or think about making his part time deal a permanent one.
Asked about a long term deal Harry said,
“I’ll assess my position next season. I’ll go back to Spurs and take it from there.”
“Millwall is a great club with great fans. If it happens I’ll be delighted but I’ll see what happens.”
Kane is only 18 and the jury is still out as to whether he has a future at Spurs. Sadly, what we’re all hoping is that he doesn’t get another chance to prove his worth for Tottenham in next season’s Europa League.
If he’s good enough, should be loaned to a top Championship team next season. If he’s banging them in then, recall him half way through the season and see if any Prem teams want him on loan.
We will definitely be buying a couple of strkers next season, so Kane needs to be loaned out for experience.
The kid is 18 and has plenty of time to develop. Look at Walker and Caulker. They both were loaned out up until they were 20/ 21.
He has another year and a half in the Championship then a move to Prem club IF not when he develops properly. Then we will know if he is good enough.
And if he does it quicker than that then I for one will be over the moon!!! But I doubt it.
When i’ve seen him play I’ve always struggled to figure him out. Especially as he’s not an out and out striker, but more a link man who likes to drop off a striker. He can seem a bit cumbersome and slow to me, always needing to take one extra touch on the ball more than he probably should. Other times he’s really impressed with his close ball control and strength, especially given his age. The jury’s definately out on this one for me. Not sure what the regulars at Millwall make of him? Hopefully he can develop into a nice number 10 for us but somehow fear he’ll be another Barnard tbh. Why not sell him to Millwall with a) first option to buy back within a set number of years and/or b) a sell on clause where we get a percentage of the fee (like the Taarabt deal with QPR?) It would certainly be better for him to be playing week in week out at his age and it would probably suit all parties given his current potential and form…
I’m a season ticket holder at Millwall. Kane definately has potential, but to go how far remains to be seen. Has got better as the last few months have progressed and has linked up with Keogh well in Henderson’s absence. Would like to keep him but don’t think Millwall can afford him. Best option for progression of both parties would seem to be another season long loan with us. People forget he is only 18 !!
Loan the Lad out to a premier league club, then we can see if he can cut it at the top level. We must give our academy players more chances to prove themselves.
Yes loan Kane out to Wigan or Swansea, were he’ll get contestant games if he scores and they play a similar game to Spurs. Have himself a year and give him regular the season after.
See no reason why Kane can’t be Spurs 3/4th choice striker next season. We need to replace the selfish Defoe and the terrible I-lose-the-ball-alot-adebayor.
He needs to be blooded and if a low prem league team won’t take him on loan for a season then Spurs need to give him games.
Same can be said for Townsend who should move to our left wing so Bale can take over from Modric.
Sell Modric as he never scores and is terrible at taking corner kicks. Bale will score more and be better partner with Sandro or PArker.
I watch Millwall now and again and the kid is mustard. He has an amazing workrate and chases everything. He and Keogh ( ex-Wolves) have a really good understanding. Definitely a future star. No wonder Millwall want to keep him
Keeping the theme of goalscoring but stealing the thread slightly – at least on tonights performance the best club side in the world misses huge goal scoring opportunities – just like our club.
This is a good goals to game ratio for an 18 year old and over a season would put in in the 14-16 per season bracket. Exceptional for an 18 year old and comparable to Dean Ashton and Gary Lineker and better than Andy Cole at the same age!
I think that he needs to muscle up a bit – because he doesn’t have the frame of a modern centre forward – but that’s just my opinion.
It’s the mix of goals that must be pleasing, this young man might have the entire lot. Would Brian Clough have taken a punt on him – most certainly ‘yes’. Taking the business approach, he is already worth £2m plus to us in transfer fees – would that value be increased if we invested in him – most certainly ‘yes’.
Really? He looks quite big to me… Muscle would only slow him down… Besides, at 18, the chances are that he hasn’t stopped growing yet. Loan him again next season.
He’s fucking huge don’t know what you’re on about. Determined and wants it at Millwall and would say he has potential but I’ve seen many players do well at Millwall from prem teams and then end up struggling going from team to team, ala Jay Simpson. All you lot thinking he will walk into the Wigan Swansea teams are deluded and patronising those teams, in the last few games I’m sure some of your first team wouldn’t get into those teams let alone your youth players.
