One of the regional newspapers has picked up today on a story that first appeared in the Sun. The original rumour links Leicester City keeper Kasper Schmeichel to Spurs as initial understudy to Brad Friedel with a view to taking over from the American when he finally hangs up his gloves.
The younger Schmeichel is now 25 and has been between the posts as Leicester have endured a poor season in the Championship – you know it’s bad when you lose at home to West Ham.
After gaining some top flight experience with Manchester City, the keeper has played his football outside of the Premiership and he’s been around a bit too. If he does move on in the summer he will be joining his ninth club – if you include loan deals.
It’s widely reported that Spurs are looking for a younger keeper either as number two or as a direct replacement for Brad but could Kasper fit the bill?
