It’s the last chance to predict a starting XI for this season and the task would have been a lot simpler had Danny Rose not been sent off at Villa last weekend. It would more than likely have been an unchanged side once again but as it is, there is now a real question as to who plays at left back.

“We have got a problem at left-back after losing Benoit and Danny,” said Harry. “We’ve a couple of ideas and we’ll see where we go with it.”

The ‘couple of ideas’ could presumably be to drop Bale back into his original position or to slide one of the central defenders across – assuming we have any fit ones to spare.

If Gareth drops back who will make up the centre midfield? Presumably Luka will go wide on the left but unless Townsend is available (?) is there another natural left sided player?

Elsewhere, Scott Parker is said to be struggling so Sandro and Lennon are likely to continue on the right.

Logic suggests that Bale will play at left back but the fact that Harry didn’t mention it suggests otherwise. This is how it could look but what’s your view?

  1. Thats right, try Livermoore in an unfamiliar position in our most important game of the season! Jesus. Nelsons fit isnt he? its a given he will play there, Harry wont piss around

  2. Livermore over Nelsen, smh!

Let’s just play our players in the positions they play, with the expection of Billy!

Agree with the rest of the team, but maybe Defoe over Vdv. DVdv hasn’t been amazing and were at home, so why not go all out as we need goals!

    COYS!!!!!

  3. The other options would be:

1.) Play Livermore at left back
2.) Move Kyle Walker to left back and bring in Adam Smith as right back
3.) Play Ryan Nelson as centre back and Gallas as left back
4.) Play Ryan Nelson as centre back and Kaboul as left back
5.) Play Kaboul, Gallas and Nelson as centre backs and Walker and Bale as attacking wing backs

I personally want to give Adam Smith a chance, so would go for option 2. Redknapp is not interested in the young players at Spurs, so this would be very unlikely.

  4. Think he might try 5-3-2

  5. Oh, come on. Why would you play Livermore as a centre back? That’s just moronic. I would play Bale down left, since he is a bred wingback. Put Krancjar up as a Winger. Krancjar does not get enough time on the pitch as it is, and he is a quality player! He plays up left for the Croatian international team, should be solid.

    Simples…………………

    • I agree but Redknapp would never let him play. The neglect of young players at Spurs is appalling.

Would Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool scrap their reserve team??? No way. Their managers support the reserve team and still loan out their players to top clubs, when it is best for the player.

At Spurs, Harry scrapped the reserve team as soon as he arrived. Apart from Walker, Caulker and Naughton, all the other young players have either been loaned out to donkey teams or play against each other at the training ground, with the occasional proper game. It is a disgrace.

      • When Martin Jol was at Spurs, he cared about the club. He developed young players and saw them as an investment for the future.

While Redknapp has been at Spurs, he has totally destroyed the set up and development of young players.

      • the reason the reserves were scrapped was because redknapp (and myself personally) think it’s better for the young players to be getting regular gametime with real professionals in a competitive environment rather than just playing non-competitive friendly’s with other reserves. You mention walker, caulker and naughton – maybe they’re just better than other players so they made the step up to prem loans. What about harry kane, great half season at millwall on loan and has really matured as a player, so he can be sent to an even better club next season to learn his trade even more. Redknapp has many faults, but his handling of the reserves is not one of them

        • Do you think that Spurs only have four young players at the club?? What about loaning out Tom Carroll to a team who don’t know how to pass a ball? What about Falque being loaned to Southampton to only play one game? What about players like: Ryan Mason, Dean Parrett, Alex Pritchard, Cristian Cebellos, John Bostock, Adam Smith? The list is endless.

Spurs are the only premier league team to not have a reserve team. It is a joke. All the other clubs still loan out players to decent clubs as well as having a reserve team, to make sure they get regular games.

    • You don’t thrown an untried player in an important game. He will get his chances in the cups next season and if we fail to get into the Champions League, the Europa Cup.

  7. Exactly why play Livermore centre back wen we have plenty other options! My team would be friedal, walker, Gallas, king, kaboul, Lennon, sandra, modric, santos, bale and ade. They have no Dempsey so playing bale behind da striker will expose that.

  8. Can’t Dos Santos play on the left of midfield with Bale at fullback. it’s a must win game so give Dos Santos a chance to earn his money for a change.

    • Spot on!!! Thank you so much Bruce if somebody didn’t much this option I would have to seriously consider the intelligence of others. In my mind that is the best option playing Bale at LB and DS on the wing. But I wouldn’t be that pissed either if instead Defoe starts and either VdV or Modders starts on the left. Which would show me that they are committed instead of moving a CB out of position.

  9. for me, It’s Livermore at LB. We’ve seen him play at CB before and he’s performed well, but I think we need him at LB as we need to win the game. Livermore is a steady player who will always give 110%. It’s pointless playing Bale at LB. he needs to get forward to give us the threat we need to beat fulham. Livermore and Sandro will not work in the centre with Modric on the left. We have absolutely no creativity when we do this. it also stops us from playing our game, which is with 2 wingers. We need to go for 3 points, so playing Bale who is arguably one of the best atacking players in the prem, at LB, is ridiculous. Livermore is one of the only options we have and it makes sense.

      • I agree Dave, if this was the Carling Cup!

This is our most important game of the season, so why take chances! Harry gets slaughtered when Bale plays on the right and we lose, so why would he take the chance on putting Jake at LB, no-one would forgive him, including you.

Jake can’t even get in the team in his best position, so why would he do any better at LB?

I think some of us are not realising how big this game is tomorrow. For me tomorrow could be one of the best or worst days in my life to date, so let’s make sure we get it right!

        COYS!!!!!

        • ok, so who would you suggest plays there? it’s not about “taking the chance and putting livermore at LB”. we have very little options, yidtillidie. Bale at LB will ruin our attacking formation and give us no creativity, as it affects the entire midfield, just as it does when he swaps sides with lennon. both tactical decisions are completely counter productive. In addition, Livermore isn’t exactly slow, and combined with bale would be a strong option on the left.

King is a liability at the moment. As much as I love Ledley, he’s really beginning to show signs that he needs to call it a day. I’d rather not see him start because as you say, the game is too vital.

          • Galls at LB and bring in Nelsen!

Nelsens not great, but everytime I’ve seen him he puts in a good shift and hasn’t put a foot wrong.

I agree with you on King, and that’s why I’d use Nelsen.

As I said before this game means so much, its just to big an ask to play Livermore in a position he hasn’t played before.

We already all now how tactically inept Harry is, Livermore at LB would be a big call, and a call I know Harry will not make!

I’m so nervous for tomorrow, I still haven’t decided how I’m going to watch/listen to game tomorrow. Thinking just enough sleeping pills to get me through the game, and more than enough to top myself if we lose!
I hate the goons so much, and can’t bare to wait another 7 days to see if we’ll be in the CL next season, my heart can’t take it!

I can’t say it enough, COYS!

          • Ledley is injured. Yes he had a nightmare for a couple of games playing while injured and we had no one else to come in for him. Wish people would lay off him a bit. We looked a different team when he came back into the team and was performing well for most of the season. He was caught out by a push in the back by Ballotelli, causing him to have to take drastic measures to block a shot in the final minute and gave away a penalty (which is very rare for him) and after that it was obvious he was playing with an injury or something… Had Gallas / Dawson / Kaboul been fit, he wouldn’t have played.

I agree he’s past his peak and we need long term options (Caulker will aid this and learn a lot from Ledley), there isn’t many better to come in for 20 odd games a season as cover to Kaboul, Caulker etc.. He’s been good this year and he’s earned enough respect from me to give him the benefit of the doubt.

          • Nelson may be a great professional and an example to younger players, but he’s looked really dodgy for us in the game’s he played to start with. Gave away a penalty and looked a liability every time the ball came near him. I’m sure he’s settled down a bit now, he’s good in the air also, but very slow and not great with his feet. Fulham have some decent pace with Delembe etc and would leave him standing.

    • Since tomorrow is a massive game I would give Bale a licences to kill at left back. Gallas is to slow and would be in effective for our wide play.

      COYS!!! Don’t LET US DOWN!!!!

  10. Personally I’d play 3-5-2 as below;

    Friedel

    Galas king kaboul

    Walker. Bale
    lenon Sandro. Modric

    Ade

    Defoe

Walker and bale wing backs an I’d use this opportunity to bring defoe in. Think Ade would do well just off a finisher like Defoe but we all know VDV will start in behind Ade, wouldnt b surprised to see 3 5 1 1, don’t think redknaop will give starts to young right backs in such an important game.

  11. Gotta go for it so def 3 at back,Walker, gallas ,Kaboul,Bale left.Lennon right,Sandro, ratboy and Vdv, with Defoe and Ade up front, yes we may let 2 in but for f*cks sake lets score 20!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Why would king not start. He’s fit and should start CB. Gallas has pl experience at left back he scored against us at the bridge from there. Minimal disruption to the rest of the team. In fact Bale will have to stay wide left as we will have no other width on that side. Midfield and strikers unchanged.
Do the fans calling for Defoe to play nit understand how much it weakens the side. He is lazy and stupid, he has also made it clear that he doesn’t care about anyone or anything but himself with his ego-centric comments in the press yesterday. He scored goals off the bench because he is a decent impact sub, end of. He does NOT deserve to start, when he does we lose.
    Oh and COYS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. I have two ideas:

    1. GK – Friedal
    CB – Nelsen
    CB – Kaboul
    RB – Walker
    LB – Sandro

    CM – Modric , Livermore
    RM – Lennon
    LM – Bale

    CF – Van der Vaart
    ST – Adebayor

    2. GK – Friedal
    CB – Kaboul, Nelsen
    RB – Walker
    LB – Bale

CM – Sandro, Van der vaart
    LM – Modric
    RM – Lennon

    ST – Defoe, Adebayor

(Thing with second one bale doesn’t play well at left back and depending on which Defoe turns up vdv will have to play really high leaving holes at the back)

    I think the first one.

  14. bale left back van Der vart left wing defoe and ade up front unless king is fit then gallas will play left back and king along side kaboul the rest the same as last week

  15. Walker Nelson Kaboul Gallas

    Lennon Modric Sandro Bale

    VDV

    Adebebayor

Nelson is really slow and so is flanked by Walker and Kaboul. Not happy with Gallas at LB but we need to win and so need Bale in midfield.
I don’t want to see Defoe anywhere near the pitch. Greediest player I have ever seen. Why doesn’t someone tell him to stop smacking the ball AT the goalie!??

  16. If king is fit I can see Harry playing kaboul lb with starting x1 Friedal walker gallas king kaboul, lennon sandro modric bale, vdv ADE,
If there’s no king I wouldn’t b surprised to see townsend play lb if he’s available.
Personally I wouldn’t b averse to livermore playing full back Longterm but probably not tomorrow 2 much riding on it. He could make a good full back in future as I can’t see him having a future in midfield at spurs.
If it was my choice 2moro I’d go with Friedal walker gallas kaboul bale, lennon sandro modric vdv, Defoe or saha & ADE

  17. Walker———Kaboul—Gallas—Bale
    Lennon——-Sandro–Parker—— Modric—
    ———-——VdV—————-
    ————-—Adebayor———

If we’re under, then get defoe in instead of VdV, and pull out Parker to get in Livermore

  18. I like Bale at LB in the long run. He could be the worlds best.

Not sure if it’s a great idea for the last game of the season tho, especially when Kranjar isn’t fit, nor Parker to sit if Bale goes up the wing.

My initial thought was possibly Livermore to LB – he did a good job at RB when he played there and should do what we need of him tomorrow… To be solid and to distribute the ball to midfield neatly. It’s not perfect, but he’s strong, with decent pace, good in the air and tackle, with neat passing.

If Ledley was fit enough to play without having an effect on his mobility I would think about either playing Gallas LB, Kaboul / King centre – or 3 at the back, Walker * Bale wingbacks.

Or play 2 strong in CM, bale overlapping Modric / or VdV from the left. Those 2 roam enough to make it work, as Lennon would stretch the game right, leaving space for them to tuck in from the left, allowing Bale to bomb up the left.

Will be interesting to see what happens – we have the players to mix it up, just if this is the best game to be forced into it, but at home against a non-top 6 club, I still fancy us no matter how we line up.

  19. ———————–Friedel———————-
    Walker———-Gallas——-Kaboul———–Bale
    —————–Sandro——Livermore———–
    –Lennon————–Modric—————–VDV
    ————————Adebayor——————

this team gives lennon, modric and vdv the freedom to attack as and when they want to. it also allows lennon, modric and VDV to roam which makes them difficult to pick up. Bale will also be able to have the left hand side to himself as its unlikely that vdv or modric would stick to the left whilst he would be covered by livermore and sandro. this would be the most fluid and best attacking team that could play and would keep things solid at the same time. predictions 2-0 vdv to score first.

    • Finally, someone with some sense on this forum !!! Dipsticks are either playing 5 defenders AT HOME ?!?! or playing Parker (he is ineligible due to injury)…

    • Bloody Hell!! It’s the last game of the season and you lot have got no more idea of your best players, their best positons and the best formation to play them in. You’re all as bewildered as poor Old ‘Arry.

None of it will matter anyway, The Glorious Gunners are going to win by three goals to two.

  20. Ledley isnt having his operation until the summer. He will play tomorrow.

    Friedel

    Walker Kaboom King Gallas

    Lennon Sandro Modders Bale

    VDV

    Ade

All this talk of Livermore playing CB and 5-3-2 is moronic.

    • You want to play your slowest player at Left-back to get skinned by their right-winger for 90 minutes…??? Think about it again chap…

      • Gallas has played fullback many times in career against players alot better than Frei (who I assume will play left midfield today).

The only other option for me, is to play Bale at left back.

  21. It will never happen, but what about:-
    Friedel,
    Walker, Kaboul, Gallas, Bale,

    Lennon, Sandro, Modric, Dos Santos,

    VdV

    Adebayor

  22. Kaboul—King/Nelson—Gallas…..Walker—VDV—Sandro—Modric—Bale…Defoe—Ade 3-5-2 with vdv sitting in the hole behind the front 2.

  23. i think we should have nelson in centre back with gallas and then put kaboul left back and walker right back this will be the team
    friedel
    walker nelson gallas kaboul
    lennon sandro modric bale
    defoe ade

  24. Gallas has played full back in the Champions League so is an obvious choice as Kaboul has stepped up to the mark as a centre back this season. Nelsen is dependable so can play alongside him. Sandro to retain his place even if Parker were to be fit. The rest of the team picks itself.

  25. obvious if any one thinks different to this they are a knob…only joking…but these are our best players so why not play them?

    friedel,
    kaboul,nelsen,gallas
    walker, modders,sandro,bale
    vdv
    ade,defoe

    • According to you (which I agree with) we should play our best. Trust in Walker and Bale at fullback, trust sandro and the back four. Believe that our supreme talents can be so dominant and overpowering that by half there isn’t a game to be played. We are so close!

  26. simple
    Brad
    Walker Kaboul Gallas
    Lennon Sandro Livermore Bale
    VDV Modric
    Ade
I always thought klye’s pace and power could see him play at cb. He gives 100% and will mark whoever he must.
Thi way kab and sandro take pogreb, walker takes duff and bale , lennon have zonal markings. Livermore will hold the midfield seen him do thata againt utd with sandro.
Modric and vaart wont need to drop deep thus will get lots of space as additionjal defensive duty will make bsle and azza stay strictly wide .Thus we can cover fulham threats and be productive in the final third.Wlakers pace can help deep as an error can be made up for

    • So let us get this straight, the left-winger is now a right-back, the right-back is now a left-back, the attacking midfielder is now a right-winger and the right-winger is now a left-winger ?!?!?!?!? And we’ve just called you an ambulance to take you to the nearest psychiatric hospital…

  27. First of all; Kaboul is very right footed; therefore there is no way he would play on the left.

Now let’s get offensive minded and win this thing!

    Friedel
    Walker Kaboul Gallas Bale
    Lennon Sandro Parker Modric
    VDV
    Ade

  28. N17 Spurs……at last!! Someone who see’s sense. Simples. (3-4-1-2). 3 Centre halves, Walker and Bale as wing backs, Lennon unfortunately misses out but thats life. Sandro and Modders as 2 natural CM’s, with VDV free to ‘run around a bit’ behind 2 strikers,. GOALS….GOALS…GOALS!!!

  29. —————-Friedel———————
    ——-Gallas—-Nelsen—–Kaboul——–
    Walker——————————–Bale
    ———-Livermore-Parker-Modric———
    ————Ade———–Defoe———–

  30. I said after last weeks game against Villa “I don’t believe it”. Defoe ready to come on, Ade scores from the spot to level at 1-1. Defoe sits down. At 86 min. mark Scott Parker comes on, Gallas goes up front and Defoe stays on the bench. Everyone has rumbled our game plan. Pack the defence and there is no plan B to fall back on. I have watched every Spurs game live here in Oz for the last 8/9 yrs. via satellite. This IS the best squad in years. They played something like the great Arthur Rowe sides of the early 1950’s. (Yes I am that old). No matter what team you put out against Fulham, one thing is sure, if HR is prepared to leave a striker on the bench when you MUST score another goal, how on earth are we going to win. We should have been over the hill and far away by now if we had a manager who could design a Plan B. Come on West. Brom.

  31. why change formation last game of the season thats just brainless. Its gotta be 4411 or 442 we have spare left wingers so bale should be moved to left back. Lennon has to play. Since he has been back we started winning again too many people dont appreciate him he defends well and makes their back four shake in their boots cause he is the dogs bollocks

  32. 90% of people on this forum have chatted total shit. Only Nathan spoke any sense. I’m going with a conservative but still attacking 4-2-3-1 like this:

    Friedel

    Walker – Kaboul – Gallas – Bale

    Livermore – Sandro

Lennon – Van der Vaart – Modric

    Adebayor

Modric is playing a bit more inside than a conventional left-winger, allowing Bale to bomb down the left side during our attacking phase. I have put the more disciplined of the two defensive mids (ie. Sandro) on the left of the defensive midfield two, providing some tough cover for Bale when he shoots forwards. Lennon, VdV and Ade all combining down the right side and VdV tracking back to help Livermore during the defensive phase. Note, I have not used any of the following: (Parker – injured, Nelson – slow, Gio – crap). I’m More Than Freeman, thank you for being semi intelligent.

  33. It’s a no brainer. If King is fit he replaces Gallas. With BAE and Rose out Bale has to play left back. When not defending, he can burn down the left and do what we’ve all been screaming for him to do for half the season. If Parker’s not fit Livermore must come into midfield as he’s now very reliable and solid. Lennon cert on the right, and Ade and VDV up front, so it’s:
Friedel, Walker, King/Gallas, Kaboul, Bale, Lennon, Modric, Parker/Livermore, Sandro, VDV, Ade

  34. Well done – to win last 3/4 especially Bolton away was a good achievement. I know you can look at each lost point but not beating a very poor Aston Villa side cost us. However looking at BBC details – it looks like WBA losing Ben Foster and then the reserve goalie having a howler didnt help as well. Come on Bayern.

    • The main reason our club is the biggest Bayern supporters group in London for a week is our own fault. But to see how Arsenal scored there three goals it’s just salt in the wounds.

      • West Brom!!!!!!!!! Thats all I can say.

Anyway, RvP got fouled last week which was a definite pen, yet not awarded either, so I guess it evens out. You cannot give a team with that much ability mistakes.
