Depending on which source you read, Tottenham’s new head coach Andre Villas-Boas will be given between £50m and £70m to spend on new names at the Lane for 2012-13. The stories suggest that the figure will be funded in part by the sale of Luka Modric although it’s claimed elsewhere that interest in the Croatian midfielder is fading.
As for those new names, it’s a pretty impressive list and the top five seem to be Loic Remy (pictured), Emmanuel Adebayor, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Jan Vertonghen and Alan Dzagoev. Also rumoured to be identified are goalkeeper Jack Butland and Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho.
As for the exit door, the claims indicate that Rafael van der Vaart may be heading back to Germany while Brad Friedel is another name commonly mentioned by the press.
At this stage who knows, but maybe the wheels will start turning a little more quickly with AVB and for once, we may not be doing our transfer deals on August 31st.

As we are getting in so many new players we need to get AVBs ‘project’ understood and meld the players into a good working unit ASAP. They need to be training yesterday and Levi needs to get any new players in so we can start the season well. We need the guys to all understand each others strengths and weaknesses.
If AVB has any sense, which I think he has, he will clear out players like Bentley, Gomes, gallas, santos etc let MOdric go, as there is no point keeping him, then get in these five players, VErtongen, Sigurdsson, dzagoev, moutinho, Sturridge, and if he can stretch it pereira. Would love HUlk instead but can’t see it.

I cant understand us wanting to buy loic remy i dont think he is worth 20 million we need a prolific striker like leandro damiao or/and burak yilmaz they are both prolific in their countries maybe they can be prolific here . KEY WORD: PROLIFIC
I think its good that AVB has strong ties with brazil and portugal i can see us getting in some top quality players with a lot of skill this is what we want to see good entertaining football back to spurs traditions and not just entertaining but winning too, and i think these foreign players can help our young english players at our training camp develope their skills .

I would choose:
– Sigurdson (signed already) 8 million
– Vertonghen 12 million
– Sturridge 12 million
– Ade 8 million
– Right back/midfielder (Krasic?), squad player for Walker 10 million
That is exactly 50 million. If we sell Modric, Moutinho would indeed be a good option to replace him.
If we have 70 million to spend, Dzagoev or Oscar would be interesting also.
And a young promising goalkeeper (I forgot)
If we cannot have Sturridge, Yilmaz and Ba (7 million release clause), one of them should work out.
sturride has a bad viral that will keep him sick even for months so no one will try sign him now – not to mention he plays like a 12 year old that brought the ball to the playground and wont pass it – alan dzagoev would be much better

I would NOT discard Dos Santos until he has shown that he really cannot cope with the PL and London nightlife at the same time.
Ade is OVERPAID and doesn’t score enough so Damaio or Remy are a must plus another striker.
Midfielders dependent upon Modrics come/go but the Russki & the porto guy will replace him effectively while bighead vdV we have already replaced…a young competent GK would be nice and a DECENT backup LB (not an expensive one although Naughton might do better than Rose.)
